Inexplicable
What if Supernatural, but wamen? You agree. Also they're Australian.
"You should create for yourself" and "it's okay to feel discouraged when creating your own original projects if no one interacts with them" are two sentences that should be able to co-exist with each other
On the one hand, you should kill that capitalist in your head that tells you to make art only for the enjoyment of other people. On the other hand, it's totally fine to be disappointed that you spent hours or even days on something that only got 4 notes. You can feel both ways.
Some more Boldly, this one featuring the first appearance of Jett! Also some examples of the. let's say Confusion that the mc has to deal with
You turn around to face the speaker, wondering what it is that they want; you hope you haven’t made a mistake on such an important day. You’re instantly put at ease, however, by the friendly, earnest smile on their face.
Whoever they are, they must also be a member of the crew–they’re already in their uniform, the silver panels in their jacket designating them as a member of the civilian corps. They have a broad, open face, with small, deep-set brown eyes that crinkle at the corners as they smile, and a wide, flat nose. Their skin is a warm black colour, and their thick black hair is short and lightly-coiffed, combed back to keep it out of their eyes. They appear to be human, though you know from experience that it can be hard to tell, sometimes.
“Can I help you?” you respond politely.
Their smile widens just slightly. “Actually, I was thinking that I could help you–I think your communications visor might be broken. It’s not displaying a name or pronouns… might make getting through boarding a bit of a pain, if that’s where you’re headed.”
You blink at them in momentary confusion, not understanding, only to have to resist the urge to slap your forehead in realisation when they point one long finger at the small metal object resting against their right-hand temple. Of course! Your communications visor… it’s what’s displaying the subtitles for you, //obviously//. Everyone has one. Of course…
Your eyes focus on their visor and it makes a little “blip” sound in your ear, producing a visual pop-up that displays their identity information:
Midshipman Jett Cooley, Civilian Affairs Division (Administrative Branch)
Human (Earth; Republic of Australia)
he/him
You reach a hand up to your own face, finding the smooth metal of the visor there nestled against your head as expected. You depress the little button on the underside that your fingers find their way to, and another semi-transparent pop-up appears in your vision.
Please perform first-time setup.
“I help a lot of people get theirs set up, if they’re having trouble,” the midshipman is saying, while you look blankly at the pop-up. “I work in admin, you see. I recognised the default out-of-the-box filler ID that it generates when nothing is set straightaway.”
You tear your focus away from your visor and glance back at him, finding him still smiling easily.
[[“I, um… that’s odd! That’s certainly… odd. I suppose it must have just… malfunctioned.”]]
[[“Oh, I didn’t even realise… thank you for telling me. I bet I would have gotten some strange looks at the security check-in!”]]

Putting content in more of my tags here... here is the textcrawl from the first episode of Boldly. (I know textcrawl probably makes people think of the starred wars specifically, but it's actually based on the textcrawl from the first episode of Star Trek: Voyager lmfao)
It is the year 2452.
The Earth Space Exploration Coalition (ESEC) and the warlike planet of Chelius have finally brokered a diplomatic treaty considered fair to all parties, and peace reigns throughout the reaches of explored space.
However, just over two years ago, a strange message was detected being broadcast from the furthest corner of the galaxy: a response to the famous Golden Record, a missive launched from Earth by scientists from far in the past, intended as a friendly greeting to alien lifeforms.
The message response included data files containing a representation of a fully-sequenced human genome, and claimed to be sent by a society of humans who had been abducted from Earth thousands of years in the past and taken to a planet in the far reaches of space. It also listed a rendezvous point where their peoples could make contact with each other, further from the explored sectors of space than ESEC ships had ever ventured.
A decision was made, and ever since then, ESEC and her allies have been hard at work on the construction of the mighty //Mobile StarBase Aspidochelone//, a titanic flying city designed specifically to carry ESEC beyond the borders of known space without the need for lengthy stops or resource extraction that may affect anyone living on planets along their travel path.
The day of //Aspidochelone’s// launch draws near… but what will ESEC’s bold explorers find as they undertake their historic journey?
Tank, affiliated with the Greengrove. Hails from the dimensional shard of Tragara.
The Trageios are often thought of as patient and deliberate, granted a long view of life by their immortality. Aja is... neither of those. Impulsive, tempestuous, and unapologetically rough around the edges, she joined the Zenixians fighting on her home shard after the Cobalt Battalion exterminated the last of the phytonyxes, colossal plant creatures that spread nature magic through the shard's jungles.
An ardent defender of nature and hulking bear-shifter, she brings a sort of "solid hunk of crystal in the shape of an angry giant bear" vibe to battles that her enemies really aren't fond of. Her crystalline Trageiosian skin is the mottled blue of lapis lazuli, with silver hair and blue-green eyes.
She's looking for a pocket healer who will help her send the bad guys running away in terror, so come on... if you think you can handle her.
Bayn Flameshear (he/him) - only romanceable if affiliated with the Aelumina Temple.
Damage-dealer, affiliated with the Fell Maligned. Hails from the dimensional shard of Amberdawn.
Though he once was human, a series of twisted experiments conducted on him after he was captured have transformed his body into a monstrous form complete with wings, claws and horns. Now shunned by his former people, he's found himself having to join up with Zenixian forces in pursuit of the revenge he is desperately seeking for what was done to him.
Beneath all of the darkness and pain swirling inside him lurks a sundered husk of the man he used to be, unable to see a way forward for himself beyond making his tormentors pay. Fey and single-minded, he pays little heed to his own safety, willing to sacrifice anything, even himself, for the sake of vengeance. His scarred and craggy infernal skin is an ashen yellow-grey in colour, with dark brown hair and glowing orange flames in the hollows where his eyes used to be.
He's not looking for a reason to want to live, but perhaps someone could help him find one anyway...
Hallis Moonglow (ey/eir)
Damage-dealer, affiliated with the Netherwatch. Hails from the dimensional shard of Thallowgrave.
Like most humans born on the shard of Thallowgrave, Hallis's life has been perilous and complicated in equal measure. Caught in between a rock and a hard place with the Dominium on one side and the Triumvirate on the other, eir failed attempt to stay neutral landed eir in prison as a convenient political scapegoat. Finally freed by the Zenixians, ey's weary of battle, but very much opposed to tyranny.
Slightly timid and socially awkward at the best of times, ey now has the unenviable task of readjusting to normal life... in the middle of an invasion. Luckily, eir command of arcane and frost magics makes the latter much easier than the former. Ey has deep black skin and long black hair styled into twists, though eir dark brown eyes are hidden by the veiled diadem ey always wears.
All ey's hoping for is to find someone who can help eir feel like eir life is back on track...
Inarahsu (he/him) - only romanceable if affiliated with the Netherwatch.
Healer, affiliated with the Netherwatch. Hails from the dimensional shard of Zenixia.
There are countless legends of talking swords and sentient magical objects, but you never expected to actually meet a being like that. Unfortunately for you (and everyone else hoping for a peaceful day), the war effort's desire for powerful artefacts led to the unearthing of Inarahsu, Staff of Energy's Flow, an object of such focussed arcane power as to invite consciousness within the weapon. And being made of pure magic, he's capable of projecting an image of himself out into the world for everyone to have to deal with.
Exacting, capricious, and aloof, he's not shy about making sure that everyone hears all of his opinions about how they're handling the invasion, or, indeed, their day-to-day lives. But perhaps being locked in a vault alone for thousands of years and only valued for your level of power is enough to make anybody somewhat prickly. He can make himself look however he wants, but most commonly his projection has dark brown skin, with periwinkle blue hair and glowing magenta eyes.
Who knows what kind of person he could grow into, if he was given the chance...
Judicar Laernius (he/him)
Tank, affiliated with the Azure Bulwark. Hails from the dimensional shard of Tragara.
As a Judicar of his people, Laernius has dedicated himself to the honourable pursuit of justice and protection for all Trageios, a mission that he takes extremely seriously. So much so that immediately upon the liberation of his shard from the Cobalt Battalion, when most of his people were trying to rest and recuperate, he instead travelled to Zenixia in order to repay the debt he believed they were owed for helping to protect Tragara. With his life, if need be.
Unfortunately for Zenixia's enemies, they'll have a little trouble collecting on that particular payment option; his titanic frame, clad in heavy armour and sporting a giantic battlehammer, is the last thing many an evildoer has gazed up at in terror, and his unfailingly righteous crusade shows no signs of stopping. His crystal skin is the marbled purple hue of amethyst, with midnight-blue hair and violet eyes.
Perhaps someone can convince him to think about himself, for once in his life...
Kamari (they/them) - only romanceable if playing a Driada.
Damage-dealer, affiliated with the Guild of Night. Hails from the dimensional shard of Nerendor.
People whisper that wherever a hunter stalks their prey through the shadows, wherever an assassin hunts a target or a predator lies in wait, you can find Kamari there, in spirit if not directly in the flesh. You don't think that's quite true, at least not yet, but the fact that you have to consider it is a testament to the strength of their domain as a Driada. If there were ever to be a god of hunters, it would certainly be them.
There's a pure, uncomplicated air to their unabashed embrace of their nature, and they are honest and open to a fault, as dependable as any ally ever could be - for as long as your goals allign with theirs. This earnest attitude has also painted no small amount of targets on their back, however, since any number of people would love to claim their power for themselves.
Like many Driada, they have some physical features more usually found in nature, which in their case includes great fangs like a sabre-toothed cat, and patterned skin in dark orange and black, like a tiger's stripes. Their long hair itself is a brighter orange, and their eyes are gold.
You're not sure what it would take for them to consider sharing their life with someone...
Morrow Blackblade (he/they)
Tank, affiliated with the Warlords-on-Demand. Hails from the dimensional shard of Rimeskar.
Most of what everyone knows about Morrow is that they're a war hero, twice over - once in life, and then again after being brought back by necromancy. The rest of what everyone knows is that he went missing, a year before the invasion began. Some people think that they deserted, or maybe even helped the enemy, but their comrades are adamant that they would never. Both sides agree on one thing, though: being as hard to kill as he is, odds are he's still out there somewhere.
Renowned for being brooding and taciturn, they nonetheless have a reputation for being loyal to a fault, and as implacable as the winters on their home shard. The pallor of undeath has turned his once-fair skin bluish-grey, and his golden hair white, while his eyes shine with an unearthly silver glow.
No doubt they'd be relieved to find someone to make eternity bearable... if someone can find them first.
Qílíng, the Beryl Phoenix (she/her)
Healer, affiliated with the Circle of the Tides. Hails from the dimensional shard of the Fertile Steppes.
After sleeping for millennia, Qílíng was awakened from her slumber in order to defend her home shard, after which she journeyed to Zenixia, in order to help others in need. One of the four most powerful Driada from her shard, her domain of rebirth serves her extremely well as both a healer and a leader, bringing much-needed succor to those fighting for their lives.
As confident as she is calm, she nonetheless finds herself in uncharted territory, mourning the loss of one of her siblings and leaving her home shard for the first time. It makes you realise that for all the soldiers who view her as an icon, there are vanishingly few who understand that she's also a person.
Her Driada nature has granted her wings, attached to the underside of her arms, with shimmering plumage of teal and sea-green, and a trailing tail of feathers in the same colour. Her light brown skin gives off subtle blue and green sheens under light, and her hair and eyes are both the colour of emeralds.
Can somebody find a way to offer her support, in the way that she is determined to support everyone else?
Ulballa (she/her)
Healer, affiliated with the Sanguineous Order. Hails from the dimensional shard of Adytum.
In life, Ulballa was a priestess, a worshipper of Tuuvith, her shard's god who performed the function of psychopomp, guiding souls to their rest and ensuring that they remain at peace. This makes it rather awkward for her that hers was one of the souls displaced and ripped from the afterlife realm of Eternios by the omniscient Scribe's meddling. She stands as a living anathema to her faith, a dead soul who cannot rest... and she really doesn't know how to feel about it.
Quiet and thoughtful, she would blend into the background easily if not for her command of the magic that separates life from death, and while people remain in danger, she feels a duty to protect them from harm, finding some sense of purpose in defending the innocent even while she wrestles with her former faith. Her olive skin glows with a faint golden sheen, and her hair is bone-white, while her eyes are a dull red.
While she searches for meaning in this wide, chaotic universe, maybe someone can help her find it...
The Vigilant (he/him)
Healer, affiliated with the Aelumina Temple. Home shard unknown.
The enigmatic, hooded figure known as the Vigilant is a source of constant speculation for the Zenixian forces to whom he offers his aid; rumours swirl that he is an enemy spy, pretending to provide healing as a ruse in order to gather information, while others claim that he is a god or powerful Driada, whose metal mask in the shape of a lion's face is as much a part of his identity as the rest of him, and cannot be removed.
Whatever the truth about who he is, you know him as a dedicated healer who doesn't shy away from the frontlines, putting himself in danger to aid the needy. Soft-spoken and diplomatic, it's hard to believe that he might be a spy, but in the absence of a proper explanation for his permanent mask and hiding of his identity, it's also tough to definitively rule it out.
It must be lonely, having to hide who you are all the time, from everyone...
Ymirazin the Ever and Always (fae/faer)
Tank, affiliated with the Incanters. Hails from the dimensional shard of Nerendor.
One of five dragon siblings that act as a foci for the magic of faer home shard of Nerendor, fae has an infinitely fine control over the manipulation of time magic - or had, rather, until fae had to give most of faer powers up in order to stop faer eldest brother, Thorogrim the World-Ender. Rather than spend faer suddenly limited time grappling with mortality, however, fae chose to join the Zenixians and aid the other mortals that fae is in contact with.
Fae has yet to shake off faer passive, watchful demeanour, but fae also has a great curiosity about the mortal world, and a sense of wonder surrounding all of faer new discoveries. In faer human form, fae has light brown skin covered in subtle gold patterns resembling scales, with violet eyes and long auburn hair.
No matter how powerful fae still is, you're sure that fae could still use some help adjusting to life in the linear timeline...
Zamira (she/her) - only romanceable if playing an Unliving.
Damage-dealer, affiliated with the Circle of the Tides. Hails from the dimensional shard of Adytum.
On her home shard of Adytum, Zamira is more than just a hero; a rare offspring of a human and an angel from the afterlife realm of Eternios, she stands as a paragon of virtue after liberating Adytum from the clutch of demonic forces. An ascetic devoted fully to protecting the innocent, she considered it a natural choice to join in the defence of Zenixia.
She is intimidatingly perfect: self-aware, compassionate, humble, righteous and self-possessed, decisive and wise, and most of all earnest and devout. Whether this makes you feel safe with her on your side or makes you feel overshadowed is entirely up to you. Her skin is light brown, and her short-cropped hair is silver, while her eyes are hazel.
She hardly needs a partner, but that doesn't necessarily mean that her heart won't ever want one...
Extra Relationship Options
Unfortunately I suffer from Loving My Characters disease and with some of them, some amount of being able to form relationships makes sense and I think will probably be Fun. However, these won't have the same amount of content as the regular Relationship Options, a bit like, for example, Reyes from Mass Effect Andromeda or Sebastian from Dragon Age 2. This list may get updated as more is written, but the later they are added, the more restrictions are likely to be in place on who can start a relationship with them.
Fellorian Suncrest (they/them) - only romanceable if the starting campaign chosen is Amberdawn.
Damage-dealer, affiliated with the Warlords-on-Demand. Hails from the dimensional shard of Amberdawn.
Dutiful to a fault, Fellorian was the head of the Security Forces in Amberdawn, and committed themself to repaying Zenixia's aid when the invasion began. Beloved by those they command, others can find them prickly and uptight, particularly due to their uncompromising sense of honour. Nevertheless, their dry wit and bottomless loyalty may be enough to win you over.
They have olive skin, with long, light brown hair and grey eyes.
In the interest of putting some content in my other tags, I'm posting the first story passage from Looking for Heals today instead of more Inexplicable lmfao. I'm also thinking about doing RO posts for all of my projects, even if I'm not keen to do proper intro posts yet.
(Please enjoy the WoW references and also the quiet despair of job-hunting in this XD)
The soft orange light of your lantern wavers slightly on the wall in front of your desk as the flame gutters and dips, all of your best efforts unable to ever achieve complete draught-proofing in the frustratingly small office that has been your home-away-from-home (or perhaps you should say //prison// instead) over these past nine months. Your eyes are drawn to the nearby gouge taken out of your wall via battleaxe, and you frown, returning your attention to the letter that you’re currently attempting to write.
//To whom it may concern,//
//I wish to hereby submit an application for entry into your esteemed and highly reputable guild. I am a highly-skilled frontline healer with multiple years of experience in the field, and a persistent track record of high-quality performance consisting of many successful interventions at key moments.//
You wince slightly, re-reading that part… though it’s not exactly too inaccurate, you suppose. Nobody can expect a //perfect// track record, surely. Even the best healers must have off days.
//I am available to begin undertaking duties, whether in the field or in a more clinical setting, at your earliest available opportunity, if that would be suitable to your guild’s needs. I have extensive history in both types of work, and come with impeccable references from many respected Zenixian organisations. I am confident that I would be an excellent candidate for any role that you might be accepting applications for, and that my references and service history will demonstrate that effectively and efficiently.//
You sigh heavily, twirling your quill around in your fingers idly as you ponder that last paragraph. Does it make you seem too desperate? Coming on a bit strong is one thing, but “please give me a job, I’m begging you, I need to get out of this godsforsaken place if it’s the last thing I do” isn’t the best of first impressions to be giving off.
You suppose you’ll just have to hope that it reads more like “keen” than “distressed pleading.”
Grimacing, you re-ink the quill and set its tip to the paper once more, hoping that the threat of ink blots will force the appropriate words you want to express to appear in your brain more promptly.
//I am currently//, your mind dutifully supplies, //on active deployment in a leadership position in//…

I've been enjoying planning the chapters for Inexplicable (presented as episodes in a season lol) and writing snappy synopses. These are based on the synopses for Supernatural on HBO Max... my favourites are the ones where the synopsis writer seems very excited, like "Bobby sells his soul to stop the apocalypse!" lmao
