-I lean against Jasper, the closer I am to her, she realizes I'm kind of pale-

I'm kinda ready to try anything right now. My back hurts really bad... I'm just ready to be able to rest and not worry about it

-Jasper stays quiet, instead allowing Cory to rest against her. She notes the paleness and a lump forms in the back of her throat. She is worried but she's afraid if it's expressed, it may hurt Cory more.-

Y- you look worried. Don't be. I'll probably be fine. I mean firework and iridescent are working to help me. I will be ok.

"And I'm thankful to them for that. It'll... just be hard for me to say to them because I'm complete shit at showing gratitude."

-Jasper ruffles Cory's hair gently.-

"I know you'll be okay. You're my little warrior."

So what- what's the deal with you and firework? I get the feeling your really not that big a fan of him

"Ehh, he's not so bad, I guess. He's helped me a lot when he had no reason to. I'm just... a little mad that he and Iridescence both compare me to... her. Yellow. How do you think it feels to be compared to your tyrannical abuser? And yeah, it's not like I even entirely disagree, I just... hate it. I hate who I am sometimes and the things people say don't help."

-Both Jasper and Amethyst show up with three patterned plush blankets, each embroidered with the names of the three gemlings. One has stars on it, one has suns, and the last one has moons, all a beautiful shade of purple.-

"Got this done at a craft shop. Amethyst wanted to try herself, but she screwed it all up and tangled the thread."

"Hey, shut up will ya? I did my best, plus it's not like you were any help with your big-ass sausage fingers."

Having let the gems in, Azure nodded slowly at the words. They looked moments away from collapse, blinking slowly and out of sync. They couldn't even muster a scoff at the antics.

"That's.. Cute. They'll love.. Em... Spin.. Has em in the.. Bedroom."

Gesturing to the couch for the gems to sit, they eventually realize a moment too late that it was covered in toys, shambling over to try and clear it off for their guests.

"..Sorry.. One.. sec."

-Amethyst jumps into action, heading to the bedroom to give the blankets to Spin and the babies. Jasper stays behind to help Azure clean... and stand.-

"You should lay down. Looks like you're about to pass out. Let me take care of this, that's an order."

[azurethespinel]

"..[Squeak] off.. I can.. Stand.."

Azure grumbled, glowering to themselves only to almost fall forward from their own weight. They looked like they were melting in the comedic sense, though it was much less comedic for the spinel themselves. It felt like they were dying.

"..Nevermind... They never tell ya.. How exhaustin' this is.. Imagine.. Bein' human an' raisin' kids... Stars... Spinel ain't even half as tired.. S'cos of my stupid.. Gem.."

"Well, I guess I know how you feel now. Missing a shard for this long... really feels like shit. I can't imagine raising one kid let alone three at the same time."

-Jasper helps the spinel onto the cleared off couch. She suddenly gets this thoughtful look on her face.-

"Do you... think the gemlings will be frightened because of my eye? Last thing I wanna do is come back lookin' scary as hell."

They get this look which reads 'are you serious?' Before huffing and rubbing their face with both hands.

"Ya ain't gonna frighten em.. 'Cept for Moon, maybe. But that's cos he's scared of everythin'. [Squeak], I have no idea why they aren't scared of me. Do ya see the way I look?"

Dropping their hands, the cyan gems face fell into an exhausted frown. Honestly, they didn't like the way they looked half the time as it was.. It was a miracle none of the gemlings were frightened by them.

"..Just watch.. Spinel will bring em out and Star will immediately cling to ya, probably more worried bout your eye than scared. Sun will get excited, bounce around and try and nip ya cos she likes doin' that, kinda like Star does. An' Moon.. Probably won't let go of Spinel, but might stare at ya across the room."

"If you insist. Guaranteed you don't look as intimidating and terrifying as I do, though, so I dunno what you mean exactly."

-Amethyst walks in at that moment, a teary, joyful look on her face.-

"They're soooo cute~♡°•. I can't wait 'til they grow up all big and we can get into all sorts of mischief, ehehehh."

-Jasper shoots her an annoyed look.-

"What? What's your problem? Anyway, Spin says they'll be out soon, just gotta get everyone together. Sunny and Moony don't know me as well, so they were stickin' by mama preeeetty close. Star, on the other hand, hahahaha! She is so hilarious. She gave me a hug and called me 'Pup-ah Appa.' I'm dead."

Azure sighed deeply, eyeing the bedroom door as a loud shriek of excitement reverberated. Sounded like Spinel tossing Sunny up in the air again-- Followed by a raspberry and loud giggles.

And not long after, as Amethyst had said, Spinel came out with three clingy goobers attached . The twins in her arms and Star on her leg. Sun instantly tried squirming away from Spinel towards the new gems, while Moon ducked down to try and hide.

"Heeey! Guess who started wobblin' on her feet! Lookit her!"

As if on cue, Star raised her face up-- Immediately brightening when she saw Jasper and stumbled off of Spinel. The pink gem lending her an extra long hand so she could guide the tottering gemling over to Jasper.

"APPAH!"

Successfully walking to the orange gems side before reaching up her arms and-- Stretching and wrapping them around Jaspers arm.

"...Huh, that's new."

[jahhhsper]

"Lil Star!"

-Laying eyes upon the small gem fills Jasper with a wave of emotion she can't quite describe. She chuckles as the tiny spinel's arms stretch upwards, and in turn, the large quartz lifts the child up and gently nuzzles against her, taking extra care to make up for her substandard coordination.

"Awwww, ain't that sweet? Looks like the biiigg, baaadd Jasper DOES have a squishy heart under all that stone!"

-Jasper shoots Amethyst a scathing look, still holding the little gem close. She slightly regrets letting her annoying ass come along.-

"Looks like you're discovering your powers. Heh, won't be long now before you can spar with Auntie Jas."

Each time they found each other before the final time their morganite just had them replaced and scheduled for shattering
