Soft iridescent pyrope said I should ask you about this, she said you would know more about the subject. Uh, what is the history of gems? I really don't know... Anything about gem kind
Eh...
I'll summarize as best as I can, as it's rather lengthy even then.
Homestead came before Homeworld, about 50,000 years earlier. The seed that had sparked the star my mother and I emerged from. a small sliver had been loosened from the original seed, and it travelled all those 50,000 years until it struck a planet- Homeworld.
We were more worried about building our society to be stable for the first fifty-thousand. in theory, a transition of all major power could be easily ignored until long after the transaction- Its made to last even if we personally fall. However... White was spacefaring by only year 200, and as she went out to find the cosmos so to speak? She found us. We were spacefaring only after 8,000 years- but then again, we also had a planet to care for and obligations to community rather than brute-force military conquering.
White meeting my mother White had found herself... not to be the happiest person, let's say. Beginning with era 1, we were privy to the relationships Pink, Blue, Yellow, and White had. We intervened as often as we could, and were amicable as possible... they didnt really care much. As they kept trying conquer planets, we'd keep blocking many of their conquests. during this time and near the end of era 1, Pink had managed to acquire a colony.
Mother and I were cut off from Pink when she was given the earth, and We had to assume she was doing fine. I kept trying to visit her in my dreams but she seemed to wake up just as i had managed to reach through the mindscape every time. The rise of Rose Quartz was meteoric, her rebellion spread like wildfire and declaring the end of era 1 and beginning of era two was based on one event: The shattering of Pink.
Rose had taken the ultimate casualty in her war, her touted distaste for shattering pushed aside for a goal I know she thought was right. My mother and I had learned via the broadcast announcement...
I had to use all my powers just to get her somewhere safe. She was going through something known as psycho-emotional deharmonization- Or as most know it: Grief-poof. She literally became so emotional that I could see her body-light falling loose, glowing streaks spreading across her as her body defined itself as a short-fuse time bomb. I had to teleport her as far as my powers could manage, it was agony but I had the gem equivalent of an adrenaline rush so it wasnt immediately noticed. We went to an a galaxy we were yet to give a name to in our starcharts- It never got a name after mother decimated it. Mother and I are stellar diamonds- formed in the core of a red supergiant, we carry the light of literal stars within us, and she used that power all at once. It was hours before she re-emerged from her gem and i spent that time letting her float in space while I used the last of my energy at the time to teleport back to the nearest colony (still multiple galaxies away) and I had to make my ship auto-pilot to get her.
After returning to homeworld to try initiating procedures for a funeral, We had discovered they chose to disrespect her memory in the most disgusting way possible. Pink loved organic organisms, unbeknownst to a certain quartz- But I digress. She thought organic life was glorious and... They took an individual from her colony, a neanderthal we later learned- They took them and used them to incubate a parasite gem called Vivianite. It incubated in the chest, compressing organs and causing chronic harm until only a single scant year on average does the gem burst out of the chest of the individual while the final extraction of life leaves nothing left of the organic. They presented this-- abomination like it was some prize trophy and not an affront to life both organic and crystalline!
We distanced ourselves and cut all resource trades, era 2 started with homestead with surplus and comfort while Homeworld entered a resource crisis. Without indulging in persona details, era two is where many gems leanings were made more extreme, Loyalists became zealots and the disenfranchised suddenly sympathising with the rebellion and ready to abandon their post. Alongside this, Its my understanding that the first of many gem-beasts are emerging at that time. Earth's 'corruption' was product of a botched diamond blast. Without pink's powers to balance White, Blue, and Yellow... what should've obliterated gems into husks (No data or life) simply mutilated gems into those disgusting beasts.
I'll have to continue another day, I...
I-I think I wish to rest a tad bit, even Diamonds have limits on the emotions they can suppress during stories.
