There was no mistaking it, she was not in her own world, living or the dead. Wherever this was, it had civilization, perhaps unlike that of the one found back home, but that was just it. This was not home. However, little could be done, and Elaine was no stranger to circumstances that she had no control over. What was she to do here though? There was nothing for her to guard and there was little doubt that she knew no one here. Which left what for her to do?

And then it came to her. This was perhaps a new world, right? Which meant perhaps this time, she could be the one to go on an adventure. Then maybe… at the off chance that he came here as well, she would have stories to tell him. Yes, wouldn’t that be nice?

With a small smile, she floated forward not sure where it would lead to, “This time, I’ll have more exciting things to tell you.” If someone wasn’t used to it, they’d probably be surprised at this tiny floating girl, maybe enough to call out to her?

Kurapika was a bit taken off by this small voice emanating from this small girl. A small girl that was floating in the air. 

Astounding.

He strode over to her with an air of caution and kneeled down until he was face to face with her.

"Umm....yes did you want something?"

  "I do, however.. Let’s just say I can’t use them at the moment."

Archer himself was still uncertain about a great many things concerning this city. Primarily his inability to use his Projection. It seemed as though the city had some sort of.. hold over him. Preventing him from using any such ability. Was the area outside the city the same? He’d have to look into it later on.

"This is quite the situation I’ve found myself in. I’m in no hurry to leave this place, but not knowing anything about my current situation has me on edge. What do I do from here?"

"Well, since we are provided roofs over our heads.....well parts of it, our only need now is food, and money."

Kurapika felt odd stating such, as if he was getting used to being tossed into strange, metropolitan worlds. Was he really ok with acting as he would be staying here for a long long time? 

Well.....if they were in for a long wait, they'd need to last a while.

"What we also need is answers of course. As in what kind of world we're in, and what is in store for us."

Foreign places had become nothing new to the girl. First Melbourne, then Hive City (plus the awful things that came with each place); so, to wake up in a futuristic city with no memory of traveling to it shouldn’t have been a shock to someone with her track record. And yet, it was. She was as scared, confused, and surprised as she was when she entered Melbourne by herself. But this time was worse. She had an inkling of what was going on, and to continue to be the pawn of someone’s game was still leaving a disgusting taste in her mouth.

"I… Is this… Some sort of sick joke…?”

She felt like crying.

Gathering herself as best she could, Petunia began to wander. She figured it was the smartest choice, what logic she still could muster told her so. After so long, however, her wits abandoned her. She had no idea where she was, or where she should go in such a large metropolis. Everything she saw filled her with unease, so she attempted to simply look downward as she shuffled along. That caused her to quickly bump into someone, and the sudden on come of contact made her overreact.

Stumbling back, she shrieked out before her brain could even process what to say.

"I’M SORRY! DON’T H — !”

Before she could finish, her feet tangled up against one another, causing her to fall backwards and land on her rear. Too fearful to look up at the person she bumped into, Petunia clutched her hat downwards, and her eyes shifted back and forth for a possible exit.

She looked quite afraid, shaking, tears welling up in her eyes, but to a passerby, she might have looked completely deranged. }

Now this is something new.

Kurapika didn't think he'd run into her so soon in such a place. To be fair he would have preferred Leorio to be present, but she was also a very friendly face to have around.

He kneeled down extended a hand to the flustered girl.

"Well, long time no see Petunia."

  "Sounds a lot like a bounty hunter. We got a few of those back home too. I’m alright  with em, but my partner is a bit more straight laced and doesn’t like working with their ‘immoral work standards’. So long as we get the bad guys, I don’t care."

"Oh? Someone around here, or back where ya from?"

"Bounty hunter sounds......vulgar, but I suppose that IS what I am, in retrospect. Your dedication is impressive, but morals can mean more than you think. It's what's separating us from the criminals we hunt."

"As for me...I need to hunt down a certain band of criminals. They've..left me without a family and a people. So you can say there's a personal stake in it."

  "Huh. You think?"

"Well I do wear these on the Rift. I guess you can say these are my ‘work clothes’. I’m a police officer from where I’m from, and you gotta be packing the best duds to roll with the criminals I do!"

"Ah...a cop, I see. Then you and I have similar credentials. In my place of origin, I'm what's known as a Blacklist Hunter. It'll take quite a bit to explain, but long story short, I make a living by detain criminals and other such folk."

"I was actually in the middle of tracking down a certain something. Something that I have to do, no matter what the cost.

"What are you talking about? My stuff looks all high-tech and stuff. You and the others look like you’re going to a ball or something!"

"But at least a ball would be something conspicuous. And besides these are work clothes. You seem like you're prepared to enter a warzone."

"....are you about to enter a warzone?"

  "Hmph. Agreed. Even the ordinary rabble walking around seem to be somewhat out of the ordinary. Look around. Some of these people are openly carrying weapons around. Swords, spears, even guns. In the modern era something like that isn’t in accordance with the law. Especially for such an urban city."

"I suppose that there's a reason that they're allowed. Perhaps high criminal activity, or an infestation of dangerous monsters?"

He looked up and down the strange man.

"It's fortunate that my wooden swords won't appear out of place, but what about you? Do you possess weapons as well?"

"Got some crazy looking people around here. Dressed up like they’re into some fairytale junk."

"With all due respect, you're...hardly one to talk."

  "Stranger folk, eh? I do hope you aren’t trying to say something about me, boy. In any case, do you have any idea who it is that’s brought us here? All these people keep referring to ‘gods’."

"I'm just stating that nobody here would fit the description of a 'normal, everyday' person. And I'm afraid I don't, except that they're delusional. It's quite childish to set up a moniker of god for yourself."

How depressing. Thrust into a new game board, and she didn’t even seem to have her magic. This was far worse than depressing, no, it was humiliating! How dare someone try to belittle her power? Someone would have to suffer for it. Anyone would do. Like, the person who just happened to be near past the witch, too close to her body than to her liking.
