Aramark Holiday Celebration 2014
Good afternoon everyone,
As you may or may not know, volunteers and I have been preparing to submit the necessary documentation to make the ESL classes into a chartered student organization at SMU! I am graduating this May, and many people have expressed the desire to continue our service to the Aramark staff after my graduation. I completely agree!
With that being said, we are currently recruiting people who are willing to serve on the organization's executive board and/or be an active member. If you are an undergraduate or graduate student, are not graduating this May, and are interested in being a member, please respond to this email. If you are not graduating this year (May or December) and are interested in being an executive officer, please respond to this email with your top two preferences (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary).
This will be such a great leadership opportunity! As teachers and teacher's aids, students get to practice their communication and organization skills, while doing something rewarding and helping make a difference at SMU.
I've attached the constitution for our organization, English Literacy and Life Skills Program (ELLIS). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time or speak to me in person at ESL class. Classes are currently on Fridays from 4 - 6 pm and on Saturdays from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.
If you know anyone who may be interested in this awesome opportunity, please pass this message to them!
Thank you!

Engaged Learning Project
My Project is to create an English Literacy and Life Skills/Professional Development Program for the Aramark Facility Services employees at Southern Methodist University. The population we will serve is our very own custodial, maintenance, and grounds care employees on campus. Potential program students are from all over the world speaking Nepali, Spanish, Swahili and/or Kirundi as their first language. I have collaborated with Aramark Facilities Service Directors to recruit students and we already have 35 students registered for classes.
We are now recruiting volunteers to be on our team to volunteer as teachers for the adult program, teachers for coinciding Children's Program, translators, and other volunteers to assist teachers and help with behind the scenes work and planning. There will be a Professional Development Training for all volunteer teachers and we are looking to create teams of teachers for each class, so the volunteer work will be flexible enough to fit everyone's schedule.
Please Contact me if you are interested in volunteering or learning more about the Project. Thank you! :)
