This shows the infographic in action. I used invision to create a button effect on the coffee roast portion allowing for more information about the roast to come out. This would help with the explanation about the roast itself.

After much working and re working I had finally come up with something that I believed fit all the criteria I wanted to hit. Sleek and clean while having a mid century modern approach with minimal line work. I used a Helvetica font bold for the headline as well as Helvetica light for the line work in the middle of the page. The cups and coffee pots where created using vector line work and shapes. I picked the color pallet from a coffee color that I had found online, I felt the mid tones and earthy colors helped to add the feeling of being in a coffee shop to the design.
Once I had the idea of where I wanted to go with the project as well as the user personas created, it was time to start mocking up some designs.
I then proceeded to make thumbnails of ideas I wanted to create. I originally wanted to go with a mid century modern type of design, something that would allow for good color scheme and flow but also in a minimalist fashion. I also had the expectation of wanting to add a giph in as well with the design that i had chosen.
The first step after the research portion was to begin writing down ideas and options. I started out by drawing up some mock thumbnails as well as some ideas of what I wanted to talk about. I also started by creating the user persona for who I believed would be using this specific infographic.
I started off by looking up what an infographic was to get a better understanding. I also watched tutorials on lynda as well as youtube to gather valuable information. What I had come to find out is that an infographic advertisement is considered to be just that. Either an advertisement or information pertaining to a specific topic, and the best way to tell if you’re creating it correctly is if you take all the words awwy and only leave the text, if you do that and it still makes sense, then you got it.
Infographic Advertisement
For our final project, we were asked to make a ‘How to’ infographic. I decided that I wanted to make mine on a how to pick your coffee roast. The reason is because I currently work in a coffee shop and take pride in helping people to understand coffee a bit more each time they come in. This is with everything I do though. Learning has always been a tricky subject for me, and I know what it’s like the feel less than intelligent for not knowing something that others may find simple. Because of this, what knowledge I have I want to share with the world.
Once we had our idea, all we had to do was to steak out the perfect spot to put it in and watch people flock to it. Or be confused by it, either which way they were noticing it, and thats what we wanted.
Out of our previous thumbs we picked some of which we thought were the best and made a couple of roughs to try and solidify some ideas. We decided humor would be the best bet to go with. As a nod to anti smoking PSA’s of the early thousands, we decided to go with a giant shoe in public stating “that in 2018, 40,000 running shoes were left unloved and and unattended. Not only getting a good laugh but getting people thinking about what might matter to them.
Once we had a fair amount of research done we decided it was time to start mocking up some ideas. We wanted to approach this advertisement from all sides. From funny, to serious and everything in between.
As stated earlier, Noom itself is a weight loss app that works to focus on the psychological properties of the why rather than the just build muscle approach of previous years.
We started off by doing research on the company to see what they were all about. We found out a plentiful amount of information, good, bad, and everything in between which we then used to start mocking up some ideas.
Ambient Advertisement
For our next project, we were tasked to make an ambient advertisement for a weight loss app called Noom which is marketed to a different type of workout. It aligns itself more with the why behind why do we create these bad habits for ourself. It dives deep into the psychological side and from there works to re wire our thinking and create better habits which in turn will allows us to have a better and happier life.
This was the final product that we came up with. We decided to add a sticker on the inside which allowed for more of a welcoming and home made feel. While each box may be different you can see the subtle differences in color and UPA style art around the box to give it a modern feel. We used Futura standard 12pt font to continue the modern feel. We also decided to leave the logo a cream color with the type set logo brown so the two wouldn’t compete with each other. We are all very proud of the work thats been done here at Farm To Vegan, and we are excited to bring help to everyone looking to try a plant based lifestyle.
When we had done the test prints on the previous versions, we realized that we need to start over and redesign it.
We started from the beginning. We needed something that would be more eco friendly so we decided to size the box down to the bare minimum. It was now only one box rather than two like before.
From there we decided to redo the outside design. We wanted to keep the same upa style art to give it a modern feel but maybe bring down the amount of art on it. The original working gave a cluttered feeling, where as this feels more open and welcoming.
We also decided to leave the outlines of the food in white as well as the logos on the sides of boxes to have a unison between the two of them.
we topped it off with writing around the edges of the boxes as a welcoming statement to all.
“For those of us who think differently, refused to take the beaten path, always try new things, make our own rules. This new chapter is for you.”
Our first rendition.
we wanted to come up with an outside that would stand out and draw customers attention, wether they were seeing it online, on their friends phone, or in the grocery store. We felt this design helped to add a playful and modern element to the brand itself. While adding fixing up the logo and moving the brand story to the side to give it a well rounded feel.
The search ultimately led us here!
As the thumbnails began, the creative juices started to flow. We wanted to create something sustainable and eco friendly to go along with our company while also maintaining something that our customers could be proud to show off. As you can see we have many ideas about what we though would be the best one for us.
