For one thing, no police force on this green and blue earth has ever prevented crime. It’s a reactive system, that responds to allegations. Police forces have never been effective in preventing crime. They’ve tried all sorts of shit but mostly it’s just been profiling and surveillance which results in abuse of targeted and oppressed groups and further state violence. Not ever actual prevention of actions that harm others.
And for another, you aren’t preventing crime when you’re committing it to abuse vulnerable people. Police officers rape, assault, beat, steal and murder with impunity.
If you really want to prevent crime the group you should be profiling is cops. Because that power gives them free reign to do all manner of horrible things and good lord do they just jump at the chance.
