The Fourth round of the Rotax Pro Tour was held at Griffith and started off fairly well for me.
Finishing positions in the heat races for me consisted of a 5th, 2nd and in the third heat I had brake issues and dropped back on the field to finish 11th.
The pre final was a fairly uneventful race for me as I started in 6th and stayed in that position for the duration of the race.
The final had me once again starting off 6th. At the start I was unable to get to the inside line and unfortunately I was held out wide coming into turn 1. I dropped back to 8th and stayed there for a few laps. Once the tyres reached optimum temperature I slowly started started to gain some positions back.
Coming into the final two laps I was in 5th and right on the tail of 4th. I made my move on the final lap and gained the position. Unfortunately as I entered the last corner to come onto the start finish straight, the driver behind me decided I should not finish and therefore hit me and took me out of the race.
Overall it was a fairly solid weekend and it was unfortunate to have it end the way it did with me taking no points away from the meeting. The RK Kart was working fantastically and showed great pace and the RK Kart Australia team put in a great effort.
Next race coming up is this weekend at the third round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series held at Willowbank Raceway. This will most likely be a one off event for me and I'm really looking forward to it competing in it. Due to weather I have had no opportunity to complete any testing so I'm sure it will be an interesting and busy weekend!
Stay tuned for CIK postings!
