Coming Soon...
Yesterday was my last day at the L.A. branch of Atomic Cartoons. This Vancouver based company had just opened up their studio and was ready to start their first production when the pandemic hit and we were all forced to work at home for our safety. Now I gotta say that Atomic worked really hard to make everyone feel not so isolated as were, well, all isolated in our homes. They really care about the people making their cartoons, and I really appreciated all their support.
This project was my first time directing, and I gotta say that I felt robbed that the entire experience was in quarantine. I constantly fretted and worried about everything I was doing, sometimes to the point of minor burn outs. Then I'd pick myself up and keep going. Every artist is tired at the end of the production they are on, but it's been more than usual as I've been directing by day for Atomic, and boarding for Disney at night these past six weeks.
So needless to say, it is human that confidence sinks with my tiredness. And yet I was given a wonderful gift. In my exit interview they shared what some of the people under me had said about my leadership, and boy did I need that treasured gift. I still have today and tomorrow to finish getting my first board done for Disney, and I didn't know how much energy I had till I heard those kinds words yesterday. I want to thank all my team for their hard work, their great and gentle humor, and their ability to survive during such hard times. I can't wait to show art and talk about the project more, but I will have to till a press release is done and I can be more open. Thanks to Adam Henry for being a great mentor in guiding me in this new role, and thanks to Monica Davila for recommending me to the job.
I’m getting vaccinated Saturday! Suck it COVID!!!
Dumb joke. I have no regrets.

Happy Spirits from our tomb to yours... (Part 1 of 2)
The kids have been coloring some Halloween pictures and decorating some pumpkins. I managed to get in on the act some as well. I hadn’t colored with crayons in a long time—I love that medium.
Hey! I got to work on a commercial!! It was so nice to hit a bucket list item of working on a cartoon cereal commercial. Check it out.
Animation director: Jody Schaeffer Animation: Rob Fendler, James Dylan Crowley, and myself.
Pumpkin Series-07. Gourd Scout. Welp, here's the last one, I hope you all have enjoyed this series. I don't know what I will do next, or when--hopefully something soon. I had fun doing these whatevers, and I really appreciate everyone's reactions to them.
Pumpkin Series-06. Pumpkin Headed Farmer. Okay, now I apologize. This pic is schmaltzy, but I'll still stand behind it. (Look at the happy baby pumpkins!)
Pumpkin Series-05. This is a dumb, dumb idea, but I'm not apologizing for it, I'm just acknowledging the reality of it. If I had to do it over again, I'd make his little arms more vine like.
Pumpkin Series-04. Tortoise
Pumpkin Series-03. Spider Pumpkin.

Pumpkin Series-01. So several friends of mine saw me draw these drawings during zoom hangout sessions, and they seemed to be completely baffled by these. Why?! What are these for? Is there something bigger that these belong to? No. It's simple, I've been wanting to spend more time trying to get used to Clip Studio Paint, and so I did a series of 7 drawings to get used to the program. To make it easier to do that I wanted to pick a topic/theme/thought that threads through all the drawings, and that topic was: pumpkins. So for the next 7 days, feel free enjoy my stupidity.
Okay, vague nouns in this story may get complicated, but I'll try my best to keep things clear, so hear me out it's a cute story: A friend at work was lizard sitting their friend's bearded dragon. She showed us pictures at work of that bearded dragon, and I made some doodles. The owner of the lizard loved the doodles, and because that was back when I had free time, I made a cleaned up version after declaring that the doodle be thrown away, it was no good. Anyway, I got this photo the other day of that loved bearded dragon next to my drawing. It warms my heart, and my day, so I thought I'd share.
