What is with these people saying "Sakura is bad because she is obsessive." Ignoring Hinata's obvious obsessions, aren't these the same people that wanted SS to be canon? So they want Sakura to not be obsessive, but don't want Sakura to get over what made her obsessive in the first place.

Not sure if i understand what you mean, only ss wanted ss to become canon, the rest of the fandom think they’re stupid. and ss don’t think sakura is obsessive, they think if you persist with your obsession, you will get the guy. If you mean nh, they never cared if ss became canon, they just found ss more tolerable than ns because it doesn’t get in the way of their ship. I think what they mean is the argument for why SS should be canon is one that is circular logic. It doesn’t have to be whether they like it or not. They can use the excuse to be Anti-NaruSaku and explain why Sakura “deserves” to be with Sasuke or why Naruto deserves Hinata because “She is not as obsessive.” Basically, one of the many problems people say they have a problem with Sakura is that she is too obsessive over Sasuke. (Meanwhile, Hinata is obsessive over Naruto and Naruto is obsessive over Sasuke.) If this is such a problem, then why didn’t they have say....Sakura get with Naruto. Seems like a reasonable thing to do. However, they don’t want that either. So despite her “obsessiveness” they still want her to stay with the man that attributes her obsessive nature. Like giving someone candy and cakes all the time only to complain “why do you have to be so fat?” It is a counter intuitive argument. You can’t say that Sakura needs to get over her obsession, but not get over the obsession while being completely oblivious to Naruto’s obsession who basically has even less reason for why he is obsessed over Sasuke.

Yes, because pushing people further into isolation will actually solve the problem. (spoilers: no it won’t. You’re just getting the satisfaction of sweeping the problem under the rug without actually taking any effort to actually get people to change and become better people). Have you ever heard ex-Neo Nazis speak on their time as Neo-Nazis? Probably not, you strike me as the kind of person that would deem them as “once a Nazi, always a Nazi”, no matter the circumstances. So many people are broken away from Nazism by having that isolation broken. By being given forgiveness when they least deserve it from the people that have the least obligation to give it to them. Nazism and White Supremacy thrive in isolation, providing heavily filtered “sources” that reaffirm their biases, and trying to make sure that nothing can get in to disturb the carefully constructed lies. By forcing them back into isolation, congratulations, you are actually helping the movement sustain itself.

I need to talk about this point because what @dangenesis said up there really bothers me. The idea that coddling nazis is somehow important to helping them not be nazis, or that people making them live with the consequences of their actions is what keeps them being nazis.

It bothers me because it’s a faulty conclusion reached through a series of useful facts. I’ll elaborate.

Isolation and insularism are common elements in authoritarian groups, of which nazis are a perfect example. You’re dealing with people who are emotionally immature who integrate themselves into a social hierarchy in order to feel a sense of security. The social structure that they build and participate in keeps them isolated and prevents them from maturing and learning to question their fundamental beliefs. This allows the social structure and all of the people in it to continue perpetuating their ideology, which again they built in order to feel a sense of security that they otherwise lack.

It is absolutely true that breaking that isolation is one of the best ways of freeing someone from the grip of authoritarianism, but it’s not anywhere near as simple as @dangenesis suggests.

There’s a musician named Daryl Davis who famously does this with KKK members. Davis himself is black and has helped free many people from the KKK by befriending them and using his friendship as a prybar to help them question their white supremacist beliefs. Davis has also spoken openly about how difficult and unique his work is and how it can’t just be done by anyone with some spare time. It takes a significant amount of work and free time to accomplish, owing to how difficult it is to actually change someone’s mind, especially when you have to not just educate them, but also teach them how to be emotionally mature.

Okay, now to the part that made me personally angry:

It’s functionally impossible for us to approach the problem of nazis like Daryl Davis does. Some of us have the time, energy, and resources to pull it off and will do so. Meanwhile, the rest of us need to keep the nazis from hurting people. And in the end, while people will convert some nazis away from fascism, we save far more people by helping them learn to reject fascism before they’re ever recruited. Yes, this means that you’re educating kids so that those kids don’t grow up to embrace white supremacy. Most of the fascists are going to keep being fascists and the best you can hope is to keep them from killing people and wait for them to die of old age.

Similarly, our efforts to oppose them do not sustain or in any way aid nazis or other authoritarian groups. They are entirely self-perpetuating and our efforts to stop nazis from doing terrible things are not the reason they keep doing terrible things. They do not back off just because we back off. When we back off, they escalate, because the whole point behind a fascist ideology is to sieze power and then start murdering people to establish a complete totalitarian control over a white supremacist state.

This made me angry because it took some good points, like the way we can free people from authoritarianism through care and guidance, and then used those points to make some really shitty conclusions, like the idea that you can’t harshly critizie nazis without just helping sustain them. That’s a completely crap argument, and insulting beyond belief.

To the people saying in the replies “nobody knows if the accusations are real are not.”

As a cosplayer, I know a lot of people who have met Vic at cons. Female con goers KNOW to be wary of him at this point, it’s knowlege that gets passed around for protection.

I know of several people off the top of my head who have, in fact been invited to go with party with Vic, been grabbed out of nowhere, or been oogled while in cosplay and had sexual remarks made at them. Most of them were uncomfortably approached, or were minors and shouldn’t have been approached to begin with.

A very close friend of mine, who was 14 at the time, went to a meet and greet for Vic and came back to our hotel room absolutely distraught. She was a SUPER big fan of his and she presented an art book to Vic on behalf of a lot of his fans. He said he couldn’t accept the book because it included images of his characters in fluffy situations with other male characters and that it was against god, then immidiately turned around and made inappropriate remarks toward other girls at the meet and greet. She was uncomfortable and upset for the entire rest of the convention.

I’m glad it’s finally being addressed on a broader scale. Bye bitch good riddance.

I think people get the term “toxic masculinity” wrong all the time. As far as media and most leftist go, they think it means “Men treat women like shit because they are men.” When really toxic masculinity is more like “Be a man. Stop crying.” Women love taking credit saying “we gave birth to you.” Well, yeah, but it is also true that women are the number 1 cause of toxic masculinity starting from Mothers to their sons. I’m really sad. When did Naruto ever become all about pairings? When did it because about ships and who is superior. When did we ever forget about what Naruto was really about, you know the inspirational stuff, the “Naruto taught me to never give up”. When did we become so caught up in this ship war that we lost the true meaning of this show.

If they just killed of Naruto and Sasuke or kept them single for that matter and let them live their lives, Naruto could have been a huge hit and kept it’s dignity that it was always known for. Now all it’s used for is a joke “I hope this show doesn’t end like Naruto” do you know how sad it is to hear that? This show that has been everyone’s childhood for 15 years is now a fucking joke. Because of stupid relationships that shouldn’t have been there. I’m not just talking about NH and SS . I’m talking about all of them. I don’t care that Naruto and Sasuke didn’t end up together, I know they couldn’t have. I’m not upset over that, I’m upset over the fact that an action show became a “romance” if you even want to call it that.

If they set out to make this show a romance from the beginning and made that clear throughout the entire show, that would have made a difference, I would have been okay with this ending, but it was not intended to be that. Little 5 year old me didn’t think “oh, these two are going to end up together” NO! No one gave a shit about that because that wasn’t what the show was about! It was about the fighting, the interaction between master and student, comrade to comrade, and friend to friend. When a new episode came out I would think “oh boy, who’s ass is going to be kicked today!” now its “oh boy, what disappointments are we going to get this time”

No, this isn’t about SasuSaku, NaruHina, Shikamaru and Temari, Ino and Sai, and whoever the hell else ended up together, or even my ship SasuNaruSasu. This is about Naruto. The show that started in 2002 about badass ninjas.. The show that brought so many people together, but tore them apart in the end. The show that started a war that will be fought forever. I’m so sad of what it has become. I’m so sad.

Now, to cover my own ass and my fandoms ass, this has nothing to do with me being “butthurt” about “how my pairing didn’t become canon” No. Like I said, I don’t care about that. I have accepted those facts, I’m not fussing about it because it is what it is, and I can’t change that. No one can. Our fandom’s “goal” isn’t to make rant posts about “how upset we are over how we didn’t succeed”, no, our fandom’s goal is to be a sanctuary to those who share our opinions and who want to be heard. We are here to be friends to each other and support each other.

We are here to relish in a world that could have been, but sadly couldn’t have been. We are here to, yes, fantasize. We don’t have a real pairing so we make up things, that’s just what we do. We enjoy doing that. We love to make up things and make each other happy with those headcanons, we love doing that because it’s our own little world. That’s us.

So all in all, I am so sad with this ending. I want the Naruto that was, not the Naruto that is now.

I know i’ll probably get a lot of hate for this post but I really don’t care. I don’t care anymore. Say all you want, please, but make sure you’re right when you say it, and you’re mature. That’s all I ask for.

See, as human beings living in an uncertain world, we make claims about many matters, often regarding matters we don’t have well-confirmed beliefs for. Your opinion that Sasuke enjoys teasing Sakura and thusly refuses to give her affection is a belief, not a fact. You seem unaware that your opinion is one in the sense that you can’t fully defend it by citing reasons and evidence in support. However, in the context of disproving our arguments, you need to reflect on your opinion. In this case, your argument is missing its proof. This is a logical gap that you have to fill in. You didn’t. That’s why you fail to convince any of us of your opinion, and supporting the narrative of you vs. us with your mindset won’t help you either. In fact, I can easily pinpoint the logical fallacy of ad hoc rescue in your statement. Since you want to be right and hold on to your belief, you make up excuses for the lack of affection Sasuke gave Sakura, but your excuses aren’t real evidence. To further explain why this is fallacious, I will show you now examples of the ad hoc rescue fallacy.

Furthermore, when analysing a scene, we have to break down the individual facial expressions and gestures of each character. Sasuke’s rather surprised expression, Sarada’s confused look, and Sakura hanging her head and shoulders down while thinking to herself that “[he is] gonna keep [her] waiting” aren’t concrete indications of your belief that he enjoys teasing her.
