Do you find Naruto character being communist?
First of all its hard to say what is real communist.Sadly,Marx idea of communism was failed time after time. So I guess we need to compare with those failed socialist systems.
Now cult of personality can be detected.
Him being presented as the father,who has his whole village as “family” under control. Reminds me of Stalin,being presented as the father of Soviet republics,being of service in some way to his children as his main duty. When he died they called him “father” because he was the only one with his paesanos to control the turf and their lives. Hokage is certainly a dictator bringing main decision,by help of elders(read commesariat of party).
Now unlike most of the dictators,Naruto himself doesnt have proletariat past though. His father certainly was a highly positioned man inside politics of Konoha.And he did have zeal towards it.
Anyway because he was orphan he was proletariat child though. Living by good will of few villagers,Iruka and the 3rd. He wanted to become Hokage to achieve a good position,to show he is not useless shit.By his words he also wanted cooler atmosphere in village for future generations,which of course would be brought by his dictatorship through him growing like ninja fighting for that same village.So its a double win. Be mercenary for village and climb to top by genuinely saying words people like hearing,confirming you arent useless shit.
Now like most dictators,big promises,not much performance.I wouldnt say people live under Naruto by iron fist level but denying massacres and supporting slavery is Konohas thing. Its obvious Naruto doesnt give a fuck and flows with that.Apart from moving technology,not much in social order changed.
But also since it seems real peace in ninja world is not possible even with Naruto,government still needs a firm grip on things inside country. So in a way totalitarianism is inevitable.Its level of control depends though.
Anyway,Im drifting off,since I could write 100 paragraphs and not be finished. To conclude,in a sense,Naruto isnt proper communist,he is 17 years old boy inside head playing soft hearted “positive dictator”,taking care of ordinary working class,doing very shitty job.Thankfully his “commisar” Shikamaru,which we know uses his IQ for wrong purposes fills that void up.
