Here's a brief overview.
Jamewoomy, formerly known as Arai Haikei, was an Octarian that served the IOA (Impérial Octarian Army) from 14-20 years old. The reason he worked from a young age was because he was trained from 14-15, then became commander at 16 when Octavio Takowasa found out about his gifted battle skills. Jamewoomy ran away from the army at 20 when he finally realized he was being used as a weapon, with 350 lives taken in his name.
Arlo was a thulecitian, part of a no longer living species that ruled cave systems 100,102 years ago. However, their kind went extinct due to an overuse in Magic. Thus, they were cursed to live as a shadow by that same magic, forcing them to wander through decades. They were alive before, during, and after humans, they witnessed everything.
Andrew, or Victor Doughlass. Andrew is a human. Yes, a human living amongst Inkfish. How? He was cursed. Andrew was born on June 16, 1682 in a place formerly known as Salem, Massachusetts. His mom was executed along with his dad during the witch trials, this led to him being exiled and thus, forced to live in the forest. There, he met a group of ghosts who tricked him to give his life to death. The reason he still lives is because he cannot age unless he dies and revives.
