Kelp. A seaweed with a growth rate over a foot per day. It reaches a height of 200+ feet. Nourishing animals and humans alike, it also regenerates itself. Kelp is a renewable energy source. It houses and protects entire, and massively intricate, ecosystems. In its proper environment, seaweed thrives. For everything it requires from its surroundings, it gladly releases the favor ten fold back into the world that birthed it.
No matter the strength and brilliance of this beautiful plant, it cannot survive in the desert. Nor the mountains. You can plant it. You can water it, feed it. You can try and protect it. You can attempt to force it to do, for you, what you know it is capable of. Alas, it will not work. Seaweed cannot grow outside of its proper environment. The things it requires to fulfill its height, growth rate, reach its productivity and its purpose, are simply not there. Whether slowly or quickly, it will without a doubt, die.
It is not the fault of the desert, nor the mountain. Nor is it the fault of the seaweed. There are thousands of species that flourish in the desert. Kelp is simply not one of them. No amount of effort can change that.
If I can say one thing to all creatives out there in this great big universe, it is this…
Struggling to survive is not thriving. You cannot fulfill your role and your purpose, for yourself and for those around you, in an unhealthy ecosystem that is not fit for you. Before it kills you, wherever it is, I beg you, fight like hell to find your habitat.
