“Good, cause I don’t give you free food at the diner for nothing. I do like you.”
“When you say like do you mean... ‘cause I’m not the guy to get involved with.”
“Do girls need to be drunk to find you attractive usually? Though I do have an empty flask in my bag.”
“I’m not used to it. Not that I mind.”
“You are charming to me but you do so pout.”
“Are you drunk already?”
“And here I thought you couldn’t blush.” She smiled, looking at him over her cup as she took a long sip. “You’re cute when you do and the smile is a nice change from your usual pout.”
“I do not pout. I’m charming.”
“Why? So I can tell you how devilishly handsome you are?”
A red hue stained Jamison’s cheeks as he smiled. “No. But that works too I guess.” He still wasn’t in the best of moods after having a fight with his brother. Maybe Parker could cheer him up.
There wassomething going on underneath the surface and Leon had no clue what it couldbe. Leon waited for a response or wellanything, just something so he had a hint of what Jamison was thinking. But as Jamison started to walk away, he letout a ragged sigh. “Fuck,” hemurmured. Maybe he should have stayed inNew York, moving here only appeared to have been a huge mistake. Bridget furious with him and he was sureJamison harbored a lot of hateful feelings towards him. Who was next Landon?
“Was Isupposed to live my life for our father?” At the next comments, Leon calmed down and grew quiet. Giving his brother a concern look he spokesofter, “what happened at casino night? Did someone get hurt?”
Jamison shook his head, not willing to answer Leon’s question. Fuck him. Fuck the beatings their father gave Jamison after he left. Fuck all the training he had to do to make up for his brothers. It wasn’t worth it. Family? What a goddamn joke. Jamison’s jaw hardened as he turned to walk away. He should’ve done so earlier, before saying anything about casino night. The alcohol in his system only heightened his anger and anything more would result in a physical confrontation Jamison wasn’t ready to have.
“Afterwhat happened to Mason, I came back. Imay not hunt anymore, but that does not mean I am not here for you andBridget. And you do not get to play thatfucking card on me; I had every right to live my own damn life. I never abandoned you, I just went out intothe world to find something for me.”
“Yeah because our father just loved that you and Landon left. Do you even know what hap-- never mind. It’s not even worth me telling you. Maybe you should ask Landon what happened at casino night.”
“Hardlyseen Landon around lately and the reason I talk to him more is because youfreeze me out,” Leon said blatantly.
“Are you fucking kidding me? Leon, werewolves killed our brother and you just took off like we didn’t mean a damn thing. You abandoned hunting and because of that, you and Landon abandoned Bridget and I.”
Parker smiled, gratefully taking the red plastic cup. “Well, I’m hoping we’re good enough friends that the thought wouldn’t cross your mind. You look better, your face is almost all the way healed.”
Jamison chuckled while taking a drink of his own. “Thanks. I was hoping you’d say that.”
“You’re twenty and youhave nothing going on in your life?” Even Leon while in college let loose on occasion. Though it usually had to do with somethinghis family would frown down upon. “No, Ihaven’t lately. Why? Is there something I need to know?”
Jamison froze. Fuck. “No, I was just curious. I know you two talk more than well, you and me.”
“Sorry to hear that, hopefully it will getresolved soon.” Leon stood there for amoment in silence unsure what to say to his sibling. When it came to his family, he tended to beoutsider. “Anything else going on inyour life?”
“Not really,” he said, feeling the awkward tension. He opened his mouth to speak but didn’t want to default to his normal, ask-about-hot-babes topic. “Have you talked to Landon at all?”

“Glad to hear,” Leon said somewhat suspiciousof the answer. He shook his head, “no, Ithink it is fairly controlled right now. How is the photography going? Istill need to buy one of your prints for the office.”
“It’s okay. I’ve been having some camera issues.” Where was his camera? Ah, man. Now would’ve been the perfect time to take pictures. Jamison hadn’t touched it since before the incident.
“Watching drunks is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.”
“Want some?” Jamison asked, handing her a red solo cup. “Poured it myself so you don’t have to worry about anything in it.”
Leon slipped a cigarette between his fingers and quickly thanked his brother. A part of him wondered if Bridget mentioned anything to him, but given his attitude towards him he assumed Jamison did not know and he sure as hell was not going to mention it right now. “How have you been? I have not seen you around.” He said as he placed the nicotine stick between his lips lighting it.
“I’ve been good,” he lied, without missing a beat. If Leon didn’t know that he and Landon had almost died, he wasn’t going to say anything, not in this settings. “Does the fire make you nervous?” he asked, wanting to change the subject.
Leon turned to see his younger brother andshook his head, “you should not be smoking these cancer sticks,” he told theguy. “And I usually do, but I did notexpect to be here tonight. How about yougive me one? So I can save you from takingseven minutes off your life.”
“Old habits die hard, brother,” he said, offering him one.
