…this is the last musical endeavor in which I was involved. I’d really love to get another thing going.
this song has been stuck in my head on/off since it came out. seeing the singer [video] is odd because I don’t feel like he sounds like he looks at all.
Cigarettes&Saints
Twice a week I pass by the church that held your funeral and the pastor’s words come pouring down like rain. How he called you a sinner but said now you walk with Jesus, so the drugs that took your life aren’t gonna cause you any pain. I don’t think he even knew your name. I refused to kneel or pray. I won’t remember you that way but I lit you a candle in every cathedral across Europe. I hope you know you’re still my patron saint. I tried to forgive but I can’t forget the cigar in his fist. I know that they were heartsick but I need someone to blame and I know how they blame me. I know what you’d say. You’d tell me it was your fault. I should put all my arrows away. I’m sure there ain’t a heaven, but that don’t mean I don’t like to picture you there. I bet you’re bumming cigarettes off saints. I’m sure you’re still singing but I’ll bet that you’re still just a bit out of key. With that crooked smile pushing words across your teeth. You were heat lightning. You were a storm that never rolled in. You were the northern lights in a southern town, a caustic fleeting thing. I’ll bury your memories in the garden; I’ll watch them grow with the flowers in the spring. I’ll keep you with me. These wolves in their suits and ties saying “kid you can trust me.” Charming southern drawl, sunken eyes. Buying good will in hotel lobbies. They got fistfuls of pills to make sure you don’t hurt no more. You don’t gotta feel anything. Got their fangs in our veins. Got their voice in our heads. Got our arms in their grips. No, we can’t shake free. This god damn machine; hungry and heartless. My whole generation got lost in the margin. We put our faith in you. You turned a profit. Now we’re drowning here under your waves. Drowning held under your waves. Drowning here. Drowning here. You can’t have my friends. You can’t have my brothers. You can’t have my friends. You can’t have my brothers. You can’t have my friends. You can’t have my brothers. You can’t have me. No, you can’t have me.
As we glide over whatever We know to be over forever I really hope the shame is less For what we feel in times of stress
But, I guess that’s just depression No sense in fighting it now You had me caught me in your headlights You were running me down
We speak in tongues and start to teethe Lift your voice and scrape your knees Kids in love will plant a seed Resurrect and start to breathe
I thought I was a creator I’m here just hanging around Got my messiah impression I think I got it nailed down
I want to tell you we’re alright Want to erase all your doubt I got this thorn dug in deeply Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out
I’m strumming with a heavy wrist Were you one of the cured kids? My shins burn for the replica youth I hope that we can eject soon
Because I don’t want to surrender Or lose your face in the crowd I finally found all my courage It was buried under the house
I’m just a manic depressive Toting around my own crown I’ve got a positive message Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out Sometimes I can’t get it out
Of Mice and Men - Cold World review: Lacking identity and heart, Cold World is just as its name implies.
usually, I would endeavor to support 'local'(ish) music...such as Of Mice and Men...and, maybe, could have taken the time to review this album myself but, that would mean I would have to listen to that horrible sound again. this is a link to someone else who listened to the thing and had some choice words for it. I don't know... to me, at first listen (don't make me go back) it sounds like they mashed together all the worst parts of Linkin Park. a song of this album was recommended to my by the auto-recommend machine of Spotify...if they had an option to BLOCK songs on Spotify? I would have used it for the song (Contagious, I believe it was). horrible. zero stars...just stop; please.

Reblogging this again because I found info!
This is 2/3 of a band called Too Many Zooz (they’re lacking their trumpeter here), the song is called ‘Flightning,’ and the genre is “brass house” (which i think they made up but hey i dig it). They have a handful of songs on Spotify and just successfully Kickstarted their first full-length album.

#NowPlaying “Punisher” by Veil Of Maya from Eclipse
here’s a mix for ya’ll. [CD-size] first two songs were stuck in my head when i woke up…it’s been a theme recently-random songs in my head when i wake up (and, are the namesake of the list) …except, today? well, today’s a Saturday and I decided to add to it and make a mix. it’s pan-generational. new/old jams, strawberry jams, delicious preserves….all MIXed up in odd fashion. might add/subtract one or two…but, this is where it’s at today. LE ENJOY.
…and, now for another addition of no-idea-why-but-it’s #stuckinmyhead:
