there needs to be a word for the warm feeling that you get when you’re getting to know somebody; not necessarily romantically, but maybe, and this is perhaps your first or second time speaking to them, and you’re finding yourself really enjoying their company, and you have this sort of unconscious thought, or rather a feeling. but if the feeling could talk, it would say something like

“i could love you. i don’t just yet, for i only have but a short list of facts that i attach to the fleeting image of your face, and i don’t even know your last name. but i have this sneaking suspicion, that if we were to sit here like this, conversing with each other, every saturday, and then maybe after work some evenings, at my place or at yours, on long walks, bars or restaurants, loud dark rooms with bodies swimming with motion, gleaming and alive…or in wide open spaces with trees that compete with the sky, where the air scatters in all directions making us feel light and buoyanti as we laugh like children...…….and at the end of a long day, and many glances darted back and forth between us, you would smile at me in way that says “i’ll see you soon”, with us no longer having to explicitly state the desire to see each other again…… and this expression would always sink deep into me. i’m almost certain, that by then, i would love you.”
