Hey guys, some vile shit is happening on the twt side of the st fandom and I'm here to spread awareness about it. Especially because this is happening to minors and generally, I see these shit happening across all spaces for a while now.
15 year old poc stans are getting racially targeted, doxxed and harassed over fictional ships and white celebrities that don't even know them. People found their instagram, address, identity of their family, and their photos are being edited next to photos of bombers and monkeys. They are also getting threatened that they'll get shot (it's scary because they got the person's address).
Then there's also the rampant homophobia across all fandom spaces, people resorting to slurs, sending bible verses and telling stans to go to hell just because they ship gay pairings.
And we can't forget the ableism and racism we just see encounter here frequently.
It's so disgusting and I genuinely can't understand how people could resort to horrifying shit over a fucking show. Get a grip on yourselves, people. Losing your morals and human decency over it.
We as a fandom seriously need to talk about more how homophobia, racism, ableism, and bigotry in general are so normalized here. Disguising it as 'jokes' when real people's safety and comfort are at a risk. It's not fucking funny and it's not 'drama' or 'tea'. Real people are getting hurt because of all the shit you do and say. It stops being an online discourse when there are real world repercussions to it.
This is supposedly a safe and fun space to indulge in our stranger things interest, not a dangerous place where anyone has to be worried about their safety and feel discomfort from it. It's so ironic when the whole show puts light on outcasts and minorities' experience, and then some people over here just do exactly the same things the characters got on the show — to young queer poc, no less.
