When I was in college, I was obsessed with fashion. I’d do anything I could to get near it, even though I knew I wanted to pursue a career in advertising after I graduated. Still, I spent any free moment I had interning in New York, from summer breaks to literally a weeklong internship at Vogue during Christmas break. I left DC during one of the first few weeks of school to “intern” with WWD and hand out free papers to people in the tents. A perk was that we would be able to walk in as standing room for smaller shows, which I ate up entirely. I was so enamored. This was during the fall of 2007.

I started my first Tumblr a few months later, in 2008! It was great. I loved the idea of blogging within a community (Xanga, anyone?) as well as the simplicity of the platform. It was a small, weird, and wonderful space. Tumblr got me through so many of those “all nighters” I pulled in my college library when I was taking “breaks” from “studying for exams.” Looking back, thinking about all of the content I consumed (mostly liking and reblogging pictures of pretty things), I know Tumblr had so much to do with shaping my personal vision and approach to photography.

Needless to say... ten years later... having the opportunity to cover fashion week for Tumblr has been such an epic experience. It feels so very full circle.

Today was the last day of the shows, and Marchesa was the only show I wanted to see. 2007 Jane would have cried if I told her she’d eventually get to experience the magic of Marchesa in person. So today, I spent some time backstage, taking a few snaps along the way but also just taking the whole experience in. I sat down, watched the show, and spent time looking at the way the dresses flowed down the catwalk instead of setting up the best shot through my lens. And. It. Was. Amazing.

Major thank you and hugs to the whole Tumblr & IMG team for their support throughout this experience. @valentineuhovski you are the best! Also, shoutout to the aaaamaze folks I got to work alongside this week- will miss you guys to pieces!!
