HEADCANON
Jane only stood up to her father once in her life and that was when the man refused to pay the ransom for her younger brother Cutler. Kind as she might be, it was the only time Jane actually showed how great her rage can be when provoked, but unfortunately she is not stronger than her father and after nearly an hour of shouting, Jonathan Beckett had enough of his daughter’s ‘insolence’ and in his anger, he smashed a vase against the side of her face and cut it upon very severely. As if this was not enough, he continued to beat her until he had calmed down and left his daughter on the ground of his study, leaving the servants to carry the injured young woman to her room before sending for a doctor. Her eldest brother Jonathan Jr. concoted a cover story to avoid scrutiny and avoid damage to the Beckett family name, proclaiming his poor sister had been out for a ride on horse when the beast was scared by something and threw her off it’s back, causing her to fall on glass laying around on the road. Jane was threatened by her father to keep her mouth shut about what really happened or next time it would be the undertaker visiting them.
The incident left Jane with a long scar on the side of her face. Examples of what it looks like are under the cut to avoid triggering people.

jane beckett should receive an oscar for smiling so brightly and acting so brilliantly like she cares what (most) men think and isn’t ten times smarter than most.

“please look at me.”
“is s/he really just a friend?”
“i’m just disappointed.”
“you know i’m not like that.”
“don’t give me space. that’s the last thing i want with you.”
“i know you still love me.”
“i can’t think straight with you.”
“why are you so stubborn?”
“don’t do this here.”
“trust me on this.”
“please don’t misunderstand me.”
“you… you never had a problem with it before.”
“i know i shouldn’t be here.”
“what do you mean by that?”
“you deserve more.”
“can you just kiss me? one last time? that’s all i ask.”
“i’m scared.”
“i swear i’ll do things different this time.”
“s/he’s beautiful. i hope s/he makes you happy.”
“i want to believe you, i do.”
“not everyone is going to hurt you.”
“i’m… i’m trying. i really am.”
“i can’t sleep.”
“how long will this go on for?”
“can i hug you?”
“do you ever mean the things you say?”
“you won’t understand.”
“you’re making me think that what they told me about you was right.”
“am i too late?”
People act ever so slightly differently depending on who they are around. Send me a ◭ and I'll tell you something my character does or would likely do around yours that is unique or specialized to their interactions.
