Screen Printing Sesh
The results of my screen printing session for my last project in my second year of uni, I’m creating a redesigned tea packaging of Twining’s Green Tea fruit teas.
I really like how these designs turned out although there are faults in the print of all of them where some of the ink couldn’t get through the screen, I still need to master the art of screen printing!

Jotaká’s work is so original and like nothing I have seen before, their cartoon style is so simple and playful, they would make for great children’s book illustrations!
I also love his bold use of colour, it really brings their work to life and makes them stand out.

Paper Gang - Ohh Deer Competition Entry
I chose to give my paper gang box a sumo theme because I love Japan, but I didn’t want to just use generic Japanese imagery like mount Fuji and lucky cats, I thought sumos where more quirky and something a bit different.
However I think that I could have varied my sumo designs a bit more and used more colour variation and created more patterns to make it more exciting and eye catching.

I love how this artist uses simple everyday (mostly) scenes and makes them feel magical through their use of colour and cartoon style. I particularly enjoy the way that they create and use shadows, it gives a lot of depth to the work and gives the piece a mysterious yet relaxing atmosphere.

My Logo for a Branding Project
The brand was an environmental charity company that appealed to seaside goers, particularly surfers, encouraging them to keep the seas and beaches litter free.

Super Cute Cereal Packaging!
The die cut ears on this packaging are such a subtle addition but I think they give a lot more appeal to the packaging because it’s something I’ve never seen on a cereal box before, it made me want to buy it just for the packaging! Also I think it’s a great way to get kids to eat healthy cereal because if they like the box they’re more likely to try the product.

Winning Photograph for Rotary Competition
In my final year of college I entered some of my photography work into the Rotary Young Photographer 2016 competition and this photo won me first place in the colour category!
I was really interested in photo manipulation and I decided to combine this with my chosen category ‘nature vs man made’ to create a juxtaposition of sorts within my work.

The sixth image shows some organic fudge packaging which I found interesting particularly the little holding tab and the choice of a six sided parcel along with the simplistic designs and natural colours to represent being organic I assume.
jkr - jones knowles ritchie
When I was in my first year of university a member of jkr came to Nottingham Trent university to do a lecture for the design students and to discuss what the company was all about. The person they sent was actually a past student of NTU and talked about how she ended up getting a job there and what she had to do as well as her experiences since joining the company.
She spoke of the great sense of community there was as part of the team and how it was an ‘all in this together’ type of working environment rather than ‘every man for himself’. Another thing that struck me was how amazing and successful their commissions turned out to be which made me wish I was a part of something so amazing too. Everything she spoke about really inspired me to aspire to work for this company some day.
I have included some of my favourite work of theirs above, Hippeas is a relatively new brand promoting healthy alternatives to potato chips which jkr helped to build from the ground up.
The third image shows bespoke pub swing signs that jkr designed for all of Young’s pubs.
And the final images show their rebranding for the alcoholic beverage company WKD.
College Final Year Piece
The theme I chose for my final year project was ‘everyday scenes’ which was inspired by the work I did in my Japan project later that year.
I did a number of experiments with drawing street scenes and inside bus stations etc from various photographs and panoramics that I had collected as research. I was inspired by artists such as Paul Wang who use splashes of colour to make the piece pop.
College Japan Project
Here I have included some examples of one of my second year college projects along with some sketchbook spreads.
I explored a range of different traditional Japanese art techniques such as origami, kirigami and tatebanko. I also explored traditional Japanese typography and I also researched a range of different modern and traditional Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami and Katsushika Hokusai.
I then went on to create some everyday objects and scenes (which inspired my final year piece) such as streets and noodle packets, I involved a lot of colour and Japanese type to give my artwork a modern edge.
