Because I knew you, I have been changed…for good. 💚💖
here to announce chapter two of my act two fic! it’s long, it’s funny (in my opinion), it’s delusional, it’s wedding, it’s smutty, you can read it here! 🔔💐🎊
https://archiveofourown.org/works/85338521/chapters/227564
Want a song? Cinnamon song anon and their fish 🦈 is here to bring you a song. Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan to start off pride month 🌈
HAPPY PRIDE god bless chappell roan! fun fact about me is that the main thing that helped me accept being a lesbian was the older and more established fic authors i followed on tumblr who’d post about their lives and their girlfriends and their wives. and now i am that kind of! anyway pride pride pride have a great pride 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
i may have relapsed
also it was a perfect finale. btw
do you have any recs for getting into gothic literature?
anon thank you so much. this is my official favorite ask i have ever received. i have a lot to recommend so no pressure to read this whole list (it’s insane.) but i had a lot of fun compiling it! so:
- my personal start was with rebecca by daphne du maurier when i was about twelve. but of course it was. i read it as a kid and the movie remains my favorite of all time (this too is gothic!) it even gave me my hs senior quote. a great place to start.
- and to read rebecca is to read jane eyre! you simply must. it’s one of the best books ever written for a reason and is so often mismarketed as a romance. it’s not! it’s the most gothic of gothic and the parallels with rebecca are lovely. AND if you like jane eyre, read wide sargasso sea by jean rhys too and thank me later
- I think it’s a great idea to get a sense of some earlier gothic and the tropes that come up a lot, specifically the frame narrative! a good example of that is a short story called the island of bornholm by nikolai karamzin. weird story and not a strictly necessary one (not as fun as others on the list) but like. it does give you the classic structure. and i’ve spared you from some of the really bad stuff.
- read poe!! can’t stress this enough. his most gothic short story is the fall of the house of usher — this is also my favorite of his and does the frame narrative really well. everything he did was gothic really but also check out the oval portrait (it was dorian gray before dorian gray was) and the black cat!
- another lovely short novel/novella is people in the room by norah lange. I can’t even say more it’s too perfect and inspired by the brontë sisters’ famous portrait. just read it!
- another argentinian author/story — house taken over by julio cortazar. this one is awesome and really fun to read i HUGELY recommend as a starting point !
- a visit by shirley jackson. those who know me are gasping because they know i can’t talk about her, she’s my #1 special interest and i’m extremely defensive and protective and gatekeepy about her writing but this is the best gothic story i know. so i am being brave. her novels too. that’s all i can’t say more.
- the sandman by eta hoffmann. introduced me to another awesome gothic trope aka the animatronic. god I love it so eerie really freaky stuff afoot here
- don’t look now also by daphne du maurier! she wrote the birds too did you know that? anyway don’t look now rules I love it and the setting of venice/a sinking city is the best frame for the narrative it’s so important to me.
- on the daphne note— films! hitchcock! vertigo rebecca & the birds!
- further reading should include freud’s the uncanny and I know I recced angela carter’s the bloody chamber already but if you’re looking for another WONDERFUL bluebeard adaptation check out the short story bluebeard’s egg by margaret atwood— not quite gothic not quite not
This is so certifiably insane I’m really sorry about this anon. don’t be freaked out. even just reading one or two of these will set you on an awesome path i hope you update me! Happy reading 🖤
i’ve got a little offering for you guys this friday in the shape of a slightly ridiculous lavender marriage fic. gelphie through and through. here’s ch one (which I wrote in november…), ch two coming eventually! hope you enjoy this one took forever!!

graphic credit to @localgaysian!
"i've heard through the grapevine that [glinda] married a paltos baronet" elphaba looked annoyed and her back stiffened. "only a baronet? not a baron or a viscount at least? what a disappointment. her early promise was never to pan out, then." meant as a joke, her remark was stiff and unfunny.
Hi I think you are the coolest I’m wondering about your Gelphie recommendations for the most well written fics? I just finished Limerence by queenofmarigolds and it was written so well it was great but I haven’t read op’s other stuff yet. Thank you and I love your road trip au!
first, i assure you, i'm not the coolest!! but i thank you anyway.
second, fic recs!! one of the great joys of this fandom is that there are just. so many. great writers out there!! making masterpieces!! for free!! for the love of the game!! aren't we so lucky??
literally where does one begin...okay in no particular order:
bc you mentioned limerence, greatest of all time, i will def rec anything by queenofmarigolds aka @blackseablacksky. sorry if you're looking for specific recs, i simply cannot choose!! thoughtful prose, and every story written with such care & love
similarly if you haven't read cinnamonfiglatte aka @episode5s, you've got a feast in front of you. they're all my favorites but i sorta feel like 'sleep on the floor, dream about me' is underrated, so i'm going to shout her out specifically for ruining me one unsuspecting wednesday (or whatever) when i read it :) humor & pain & smut, the trifecta we all need and deserve
beloved nesting box by @localgaysian hello!! doctors thropp and upland are so important to me!! i need a suspicious mole just so i have a reason to make an appointment w them. anyway, such a lived in world, amazing writing, you're in for a treat.
speaking of amazing writing and lived in worlds, hi you must explore the great @uisceb. brighter days, inc is a marvel of world-building and am i no good? is THE glinda character study #ToMe
a shoutout to 'finding love on the road' by @greta--gill and @judastarkid which i read probably around this time last year so now i'm here similarly in my hot, ac-less apartment recalling it and thinking fondly (@greta--gill aka ifthebookdoesntsell is also responsible for post-canon farmhouse!gelphie, a delightful series)
titanic au aka 'rushmere restless hearts' from the great direwoff aka @perigrin, which! i read on a boat. (a fact that i keep telling her, like? why. it's not that interesting. but i did spend so many nights looking out at the expanse of black water being like 'GELPHIE'S LOVE IS AS DEEP AS THIS OCEAN!' thanks 2 this fic.)
if you need to read something smart that feels like a warm hug, turn to @thescullyphile, both 'exposure therapy' and it's smutty sequel 'your warm embrace'
THIS LIST IS GETTING TOO LONG, SORRY but i'm currently 2 chapters into @sunflowersappho's devil wears prada au 'her face is a map of the world' and i think the canon tie-ins are really smart
and obviously no list would be complete without @festivating aka haline who has a full-ass bookshelf of great fics. they never miss!!
there are so many more i'm sure i'm forgetting and/or haven't read but have had open as tabs on my computer for months!! to those people, i'm sorry!! but if i were drafting an intro to gelphie syllabus — and trust, i always am. in the back of my head. — these are the geniuses i'd add to the list. i'm so grateful to all of them for their time and care and talent, WE ARE LUCKY!! the end. ♡
I reject universal's attempts to disney princessify Glinda. That woman is and always should be a disaster lesbian wine aunt who does unhinged shit like lock her employees in cupboards for no other reason than that she finds it funny and starts flipping tables if you so much as mention her dead wife but is also somehow a reasonably effective(?) interim president and can take command of any room she enters even when she really shouldn't be able to given the situation.
in a bittersweet turn of events here is the final chapter of limerence! featuring endings, mostly, and happy ones. i will miss this fic so much but please stay tuned! 🎡

not jealous, just concerned
I asked for some prompts on patreon and few of people suggested jealous Galinda. so who better to aim her jealous wrath at?
lucky 13! aka elphaba pov of limerence this week. featuring aftermaths, a date night out, and more moor 🌾

Have you been reading vamphaba fic limerence? Things are happening!!!!
things are happening indeed !!! one of the fics of all time of course. everyone go read limerence right now it's by my dear friend @blackseablacksky :D :D
new e rated chapter of limerence for you lovely people today :) not much else to say… there’s biting… i hope you enjoy…
https://archiveofourown.org/works/78491486/chapters/220253486
new chapter of limerence really leaning into the freakiness of it all with this one! featuring some good news, a bit of making out, some psychosexual biting-by-proxy, and half of an argument. hope you enjoy! ✉️
