the airship is so fucking incredibly cool btw . like i get why everyone goes nuts when it shows up in stuff now

#.jtxt #the way the entire map just flattens and unfurls beneath you #ff1 is really good at making basic progression feel Huge #the airship means you can now go anywhere and that feels crazy when you've been meandering around shitty mountains for hours #like . the northern continents are designed to make you still have to traverse terrain right #BUT the entire first half of the game suddenly becomes the size of a postage stamp.#you can get to elf town in one second. no ogre fights required. you're there. it feels so good

so i've never read the redwall books but from what i do understand about them i think final fantasy 1 does a really good job of emulating the experience of being a tiny mouse adventurer
