I had such an incredible time at the Women in Sports conference this weekend. It was amazing to learn from so many remarkable women. The extraordinary women on the panel shared so much knowledge and encouragement. I also benefited so much from the mentors I was paired with, such outstanding women in their fields, willing to encourage and guide others. I honest could not believe who took time out of their day to come and speak to us! Probably a huge highlight was meeting Jessica Hardy and Misty May, two women whom I saw thrive on the Olympic stage and had admired for years. (I was honestly so excited to meet them, you don’t even know!) To top it off, it ended with an exciting Ducks OT win after a really intense game! Trying to figure out what is my fave photo of the year. 1. Mike Trout stealing the sharpie (*cough* which I stole from a judge *cough*) after he signed my mom’s Trucha jersey…but later on returning it through staff. 😂🤣😂 2. Baby Tony looking at me like, “What are you doing, JP?” 3. Sitting on Giant Einstein 4. Randomly being asked if I was willing to sign a waiver and be photographed with David Ortiz and going, “….K!” 😂🤣 5. Babe Ruth and I being bummed we were stuck outside while Trey Mancini was doing crazy things inside of Camden Yards. 6. Baby Elías going, “Leave me alone, Tía JP!” 7. Jacuzzi boat!!! 8. I just got back from watching @intheheightsmovie in the theaters with my mom! It was so nice to share this with her. I love this musical so much, and even though I know it so well, I still cried for about 2/3 of the film. I had to pee around “Paciencia y Fe,” but held until the very end scene with Piraguero and Mr. Softee. 🤣😂🤣 Abuela Claudia always reminded me a lot of my grandmother; when she came on the screen, my mom said, “She looks like my mom!” Y’all, we were like 2 minutes into the film, and I was already emotional! More tears during “Breathe,” and by the time “Alabanza” came on, I was a blubbering mess. My favorite scene was probably “Carnaval Del Barrio.” I just loved seeing all the different Latin American countries represented. I seriously loved this film so much. Obviously, there were some changes from the musical. Some I liked, some I wasn’t super thrilled about, but overall, I seriously loved it. One of the reasons I always loved the musical so much is because I saw someone who looked like me and faced the same struggles. Like, I seriously thought Lin-Manuel had like read my journal or something when he wrote the musical, LoL! If you haven’t watched it yet, go see it. I won’t lie, it’s so eerie seeing this place to empty when it normally so full of life. Regardless, I’m so happy to be back at my winter home and getting a chance to cheer on my @anaheimducks in person after so long. They have super strict rules, but al the staff is being so nice by saying “Welcome back” and being so helpful. (Please notice both KesBear’s and Wild Wing’s mask!
