"To Beatrice," November 2023, ink and water on paper, 18" x 24"
"Canary," March 2024, colored ink, watercolor, and acrylic on paper, 44" x 30"
"Radiated," March 2024, colored pencil on paper, 22" x 30"
"Alas, Poor Yorick," February 2024, marker on paper, 18" x 24"
"Prom," January 2024, colored pencil on paper, 18" x 24"
This piece was created entirely while holding 5 colored pencils at once in my drawing hand. Definitely a fun challenge!
Time for a special Throwback Thursday post: "Viola's Disguise" was recently published in Essence Fine Art & Literary Magazine! Thanks to the editors for selecting my piece, it is a delight to see it in print!
"Flutter (Expand)," December 2023, copper, plaster, acrylic, 20" x 24" x 10"
flutter (v): (of a bird or other winged creature) to fly unsteadily or hover by flapping the wings quickly and lightly
expand (v): (of the universe) to undergo a continuous change whereby, according to theory based on observed redshifts, all the galaxies recede from one another
"The Tempest," November 2023, wood, acrylic, 25" x 27" x 12"
Named after the Shakespearean play that does not fit neatly into either the comedy or tragedy genres, this piece uses symbols from theatre and the sea to question why humanity finds such pleasure in tragic stories.
I couldn't begin to explain to you or even to myself why I had the sudden urge to draw Throg but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Working on coloring him as we speak ;)
