In the few years when they'd been apart, Jackson had missed a lot of things about April. He'd missed the smug expression she usually sported when telling him about a bargain she made during a purchase, the way she would swat him when he made a joke, her laugh and the way her dimple would slowly appear or sometimes just pop. He'd missed seeing her with Harriet, cuddling her or playing with her, he'd missed her both in his professional and his personal life. But he was man enough to admit that one of the things he'd missed the most was the look she was sporting right now.

This is tiny because I started on it last night right before sleeping but still.

“Oh, you talked to her! How is she doing?”, April asked, trying to be pleasant, opening a bottle of water & taking a sip.

He smiled sarcastically, scoffed & left the kitchen without replying, shaking his head.

She bristled & kept the water down, stopping herself from getting annoyed the way she usually did these days.

“I asked you a question.”, she followed him to the living room.

“I’d rather not answer about things you’re obviously not interested in.” 

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means that if you cared about ‘how she’s doing’, you wouldn’t have needed me to bring it up to ask.”, he spat out.

Hey Anagha,

Do you know about the original pitch for Sarah's return, which was changed? So who do you credit more for the endgame? Sarah or Jesse?

Oh I'm very well aware of the original absurdly ridiculous pitch for her return. Still a bit in awe that it was changed SO much but I've always felt that Jesse had hella pull with the production which is why we're lucky he liked Japril lol.

As for the credit, it might sound cliche but I do think it was both of them. I have my reasons.

See, to me, Jesse & Sarah's investment & love for Japril reads different. They both definitely love the ship but Jesse always seemed more partial towards the storyline & working with Sarah. There's this old quote of him saying "Anything Japril gets to do together, I'm for it." - which I think sums up his feelings. He might like them together but as long as they got to tell powerful stories together, he'd be ok with them not romantically involved. Which is how the original pitch was even made. If you read the interview, Sarah said that Jesse pitched the change after they both discussed it. Which leads me to think that Jesse would've been ok with the og pitch. He might not have loved it but he was leaving anyway & he wanted Sarah back & would take whatever story as long as he got to work with her.

Now, Sarah? She seems more invested in Japril as a couple. She's said plenty of times how much she wanted them to wind up together. So in addition to the storyline, she'd want the endgame too (like us). Which is why is worked out perfectly for us. Sarah definitely wanted hope for Japril - which I'm sure she insisted on in her talk w/ Jesse & he wanted her back for his exit and had pull with the production.

So he pitched it (I'm guessing, vehemently) & they agreed. So no, I dont think the pitch would've changed if it wasn't for Jesse AND Sarah.

We're very VERY lucky when it comes to them. Thanks for asking :)

the tag in your last post saying that April is only treated as an ocasional extension for Jackson… you’re so real and right for that

Sigh.. Yeah. Unfortunately I noticed a shift in the second half of s13 (which was when, I still hold the opinion, KV got involved in the show). That's part of why I dropped the show. How April wasn't given any storyline after jts, that dinner with Maggie's mom that somehow had both jackson & arizona but not april. And then season 14, even the crisis storyline only further isolated her. Now, it could've been a fresh start but the choice to eliminate her from the show as soon as they decided to bury Japril just cemented that they had reduced her to "Jackson's love interest / Harriet's mom" by that point, which was so hurtful & disrespectful to April, Sarah & all her fans.

I can give a pass to her s17 return being centred around Jackson since it was his exit but even the 400th had her doing nothing besides being there for Catherine (again, centring Jackson). I'm still glad for her appearance but let's be real, they wasted her.

Don't even get me started on how they diminished her career. It infuriates me that she was made to quit surgery in S14 with no buildup or explanation to what she was doing & why. Even in the 400th, they didn't even bother telling what she's doing in Boston. I mean we don't even canonically know if she's actually working for the Foundation or found another gig.

I'm not surprised she's not back but i SO wish that she was. At this point, I'd be okay with a solo appearance from her (with no Japril update) as long as it furthers HER story which was so unnecessarily cut short.
