So, I have a theory about the pink room in TSPUD

it's a bit of a stretch, but what if it's an earthbound/mother reference?

So, in Earthbound, there's a machine that creates prophecies called the 'apple of enlightenment'. No one knows exactly what it is or how it works, it's just described as a machine. Obviously that wouldn't be enough for it to be a solid reference, but if we take a look at the soundtracks for TSPUD and the original mother game, the first four notes are almost identical.

Again, a bit of a stretch, but I used to be a huge Earthbound fan (I actually played it before undertale came out, having bought it on the nintendo e-shop) and the music was similar enough that it caused my ears to perk up when I walked into the pink room. And the giant apple sitting in the middle of the room, that's interesting, to say the least.

So, I don't believe the narrator has played earthbound, this is just an out of universe explanation for the pink room.

What do you guys think?
