Jumping from child care to private security really messes with you. I keep saying "oopsie daisy" and encouraging drunk folks to "go home, drink some water and take a nap, and let's try again in 24 hours, okay?" Best part by far is that it's working. Guy went like he was going to fight me the other day and his buddy said "you leave the nice lady alone"

I was an au pair for a bit and after a bit in a another field I switched to private security and became a team lead.

Stuff I've done in no particular order that has worked amazing:

Giving my team stickers to decorate their lockers with

Calling mandatory excercises and revisions gym class

Calling certain tasks arts and crafts

Rewarding them with candy on occasion

Bringing baked goods around holidays and birthdays

Treasure hunt

Calling them "good boy" (most of them are grown ass men with military backgrounds)

Just asking them "how are we feeling"

Printing out a "class schedule" and putting it on the wall

Those fuckers love it, they're good sports about everything and their attitudes about mandatory stuff improved greatly. 100% recommend.

Okay, some additions:

Kids have those rewards boards on fridge? So do the guys at work now. A start sticker when something is done well as a team for that week.

Telling them they were very brave to do X. They blush and stutter at that and then preen. Works wonders.
