Jasper Jordan is seventeen years old, and was locked up for making illegal narcotics. He is known best to be outgoing and reliable but can also be rash and paranoid, and has been compared to Devon Bostick before. He also suffers from PTSD.

“Okay, good,” Fox smiled, letting out a breath of relief at Jasper’s response. She didn’t know what she’d been expecting him to say, but it was still nice to have the confirmation that her feelings weren’t one-sided. “I better be.” Fox didn’t know what she’d do if she didn’t have Jasper. She’d be a lot lonelier, that’s for sure. True, there were other people on the ground who she was friendly with and who would surely keep her company. But, none of them were Jasper. The two of them had history, and they had a bond that Fox wasn’t sure she’d ever be able to have with anyone else. Not in the same way. Fox almost pulled her hand away, afraid that the sudden contact had scared him, but feeling him relax into the touch and grip her hand back, she smiled. “Look at me,” she said. “I’m very much alive, and I intend on staying this way. So, don’t worry about me.” Fox couldn’t predict the future, she didn’t now when death would come, but she was set on staying alive for as long as possible. She was going to do whatever it took to stay that way, and to make sure Jasper and everyone else she cared about stayed alive as well.

He let out a breathy laugh at her reaction. Her being happy made him happy. It sounded really cliché, but it was true. Nobody had ever had that effect on him, except for Angelina, which is why Jasper knew that she was special as soon as he met her. He was thankful, though, he was a much better person with Fox there to help, and he was much happier when he saw that she was. That was why their past is one thing that doesn’t make him smile. He gave her a weak but determined smile, knowing that she was trying her best to be comforting and being grateful for that. “It’s my job to worry about you.” He told her, gazing at their intertwined fingers. He had to worry about Fox, because she took care of him. She was important to him, and if anything happened to her, Jasper would have a breakdown. He knew that, and he knew that she wouldn’t go down without a fight. But still, worrying was something that couldn’t be helped.

Hazel eyes were gazing at the object. It was even more breathtaking than she could have imagined. The were tiny carvings on the handle, which seemed to have been made of the antler of a deer. It was all very neat and perfectioned. The stone blade wasn’t as sharp, but rough, which would probably make more of a mess when it came to slicing through anything. Even the blade had tiny carvements in it. This was not a weapon she would ever come across back at the Ark. She was positively flabbergasted. “It’s beautiful.”

He continued to grin as her watched her face change. He loved impressing people, especially when it was with something he was only half lying about. He had only found it, it wasn’t as if he’d taken it, but he never disagreed when people assumed that. “You like this kinda stuff?” Seemed like on obvious question, but he was interested.

Addie shrugged. “I’d rather let my skills get me respect.” she paused for a moment before continuing. “But I’ll keep it in mind.” She listened attentively as he told the story, nodding. “Monty seems cool. Don’t know him well.” Then she went on, “But I know Fox. She’s my tent mate.” She smiled. This camp was is small, everyone’s getting to know everyone. It’s hard not to have at least heard of someone.

He shrugged, seeing her point. “Awesome! She’s great, isn’t she?” He noticed he was getting a bit too excited and dialled it down a little. “I mean, she must be a good tentmate, she’s so polite.” He corrected sheepishly.

“Because that’s kind of still how I see you,” Fox admitted softly. “As one of my best friends. That’s okay, right?” They’d remained friends after the break-up, but things were obviously different. She knew they were still friends, but she didn’t know if he saw her as a best friend anymore, like how she saw him. “I don’t think you’ve ever had cruel intentions,” she continued. “Not with the shooting, not even back with me. You aren’t a bad person. That’s why I don’t blame you.” Maybe she did have reason to blame Jasper, and to hate him. Or at the least, she had no other solid reason to stay by his side and console him the way she was. No reason other than that she still adored him, and it was impossible for her to see him in a negative light. “You can’t think about that now,” she said. “If something ever does happen to me, you can be sad then. But, for now, I’m still right here.” Cautiously, not sure how he’d react, Fox slipped her hand into his, holding onto it. She smiled, gently nudging his shoulder with hers. “Enjoy me while I’m here, Jasper.”

“Of course I do.” He looked at her seriously and sincerely, so that she’d know that what he said about his feelings were true. “You are one of my best friends, Angie.” He confirmed. He hung his head at the mention of their past relationship. He hated talking about it with her, because he knew the truth of what he did, and it was a stupid truth, but she had no idea. He appreciated that Fox stuck by him. He needed somebody to do that. Monty was getting a it annoyed with Jasper recently, and vice versa, so it had become increasingly hard for him to talk about how he was feeling. His eyes gazed down at her hand on his. He had tensed at the touch at first, but feeling her warmth and the softness of her skin made him immediately feel comfortable and safe. She’d always had that affect on him. He gripped her hand gently, letting out a breath. “Please,” His voice hitched. “Don’t die, Fox.”

Clarke took a breath and smiled over at Jasper. “Speaking of guns, you’re getting pretty good,” She complimented him, changing the subject to a slightly happier one.

“Really?” Jasper was too modest to notice things like that. He was an okay shot, he’d admit, but he never expected to be complimented on it. He often let things like that get to his head. “Thanks! I’ve wanted to start practising and stuff, but Raven says there aren’t enough bullets.” He shrugged.

Fox nodded. She couldn’t blame Jasper for being scared. She was scared, too, though she wouldn’t admit it so easily to just anyone. But, she didn’t mind opening up to Jasper. She gave him a soft smile, trying to continue being positive for his sake, but it dimmed a little when he said she was going to get hurt. It was something she tried not to think about, but Jasper wasn’t wrong. With the way things were going with the grounders, it was likely more than a few of them would suffer. Not all of them would make it. Fox knew that, despite her attempt to ignore the hard truth. “It won’t be your fault,” she told him. “But, nothing’s going to happen to anyone. Especially not me. I’m perfectly safe. Don’t worry about me.” She wasn’t sure if she was lying or not, but that didn’t matter right now. “I don’t blame you for anything, Jasper. I can’t promise that others don’t, but I’ll always defend you. You know I’m always on your side, right? That hasn’t changed.”

He knew that Fox was trying to make him feel better. She always did when he was in pain, just like he did for her. He knew that neither of them could stand seeing the opposite hurt or upset, which is why Fox was saying what she was. He was comforted by her words, but it didn’t change how he felt. He knew she’d say things differently to what she thought because that was what people did when they didn’t want others to worry. “Why don’t you blame me? All I’ve done is hurt you, and you still talk to me like I’m your best friend.” He didn’t understand how he deserved the way she treated him. “If you get hurt... I don’t know how I’m going to live with myself.” He shook his head. He knew it would be his fault if anybody was hurt during this war, because he started it. It was his bullets, his gun, his finger on the trigger. Whether Fox wanted to admit that or not, he understood it.

“Nothing yet. Just lots of trees” Clarke said back with a small shrug. “I’m not sure if I like how quiet it is. Quiet means it’s safe for now, you know? But quiet also means they’re taking time to plan their next attack.”

Jasper nodded, gazing through the trees, focusing on the quietness now that she had brought it up. He looked back at her. “We’ll be okay, Clarke. We have guns now. We’ll be prepared.” He was convincing himself as well as her, honestly quite worried about what would happen if the camp was attacked.

“I’d rather not remind them. It’s not gonna exactly make me friends.” she said. But she raised her eyebrows. “You got busted for drugs? Like what kind? Weed?” she said. She shook her head. “Man, I really had you pegged as the murder type.” she laughed. “Monty’s the guy like constantly in the dropship right?” she asked, tucking her hair behind her ear.

“No, but it’ll get you respect.” He pointed at her in a teacher-ish manner. He laughed. “Yeah, something like that. We both lived on the farming sector of the Ark, so we stole a bunch of herbs and, well... you can guess the rest.” He shrugged, and gave a fake look of hurt when she mentioned murder. “Yeah, that’s him.” He nodded. “Fox was there too, not sure if you know her.”

Addie bit her lip, to hide her smile. She then realized she said too much. Her dad was close to the Chancellor when he was alive, and always followed his orders. She was sure that information could make her enemies, seeing as half the weapons he assigned were used to put these kids in jail or put some of their people in the airlock. Addie immediately got serious. “Just don’t tell anyone, okay?” she said. She’d rather not have to talk about her dad too much anyway. “What’d you get put in the Sky Box for anyway?” she said, changing the subject quickly.

Jasper was taken back by the sudden seriousness. “Aren’t you already known? I mean, I assume you are since you’re Dad’s quite an important person..” This seemed to be the perfect time to not pry, so Jasper accepted when she changed the subject, and went along with it. “Oh, uh, that. It’s quite embarrassing actually.” He smiled sheepishly. “My friend Monty and I were caught trying to make drugs.”

“Something like that isn’t easy to get over, Jasper.” Fox couldn’t even imagine going through something as terrifying as that. She’d been scared just thinking that she’d lost him for awhile there, but it was Jasper’s life. He was the one who experienced it, she certainly understood if he was having a hard time dealing with it now. “You’re not silly,” she assured him. “Not at all. But you’re safe now, I promise you are.” She gave his arm a gentle squeeze. “You think I’d let anyone else hurt you? I’d fight them off myself.” She smiled, almost laughing at the idea of little her trying to fight off big, dangerous grounders. She’d try though. For Jasper, she would. “It’s not nothing either,” she said. “Your feelings are important.”

Jasper smiled at her attempts to console him. He really appreciated her compay and her words, as he always did. If Jasper ever had any trouble, Fox would be the first person he would come to, whether Monty liked it or not. Monty was great, but he never made him feel the way he felt about Fox. It wasn’t any stronger or anything, it was just... different. Jasper’s smile dropped as he brought his gaze back up to her face. “I’m scared, Angie.” He admitted to her with hitched breath and pleading features. “I don’t know what to do, because people are going to get hurt. You’re going to get hurt, and it’s going to be my fault..” Jasper didn’t care about what happened happening to him again, he just didn’t want others to have the same fate. And by the looks of things, because of him, they would, and that scared him so much.

She smiled and looked around slightly as she walked with Jasper, thankfully that he came up with a good idea. If he hadn’t she’d probably be off exploring which wasn’t bad, but practice was even better with their current situation. Brynn was more skilled with knives than a gun anyway, but sharpening her skills even more was something she’d been wanting but never gotten around to doing. “Yeah here’s perfect.” She replied before pulling her knife out from the back of her pants.

Jasper nodded in response to her approval, and awkwardly sauntered back to where she was positioned. He looked down at his knife nervously, worried that he might make a fool of himself with his poor knife-throwing ability. She was probably much better than him, he thought as he threw it with a rather pathetic stance. He winced and looked down in embarrassment as the knife landed a good 5 feet away from the target, laughing sheepishly. “I think I need to practise more often.”/,

Clarke smiled over at Jasper, “I’ll never say no to some good company.” Jasper was sweet and quickly had become a friend on the ground. He was an easy person to like. Clarke motioned for him to join her up on the watch platform she was perched on.

Jasper climbed up with a smile. Glancing outside the wall nervously occasionally. “You seen anything?” He asked curiously, planting his hands deep in his pockets.
