Kol felt like making a sarcastic remark in response, it wasn’t often that people requested his help, especially fellow vampires. But he knew better than to irritate this male right now, it would only lead to a scene that Kol had no time to clean up. Finnick was still in the hospital, so he planned to have this over and done with as quickly as possible. “Well well well. I’ll help you, but you owe me a favour.” Not that there was anything this man could do for him, that he couldn’t do himself. He needed witches, not unstable watered down versions of his own species. He just wanted to make it clear that his favours were hard to come by — never for free.
Kol grabbed the man by his collar, not attempting to be gentle. That would get neither of them anywhere. With an exasperated sigh, he began to move, his strength apparent and effortless. It was always best after a meal, even if he had feasted from a blood bag. “We’ll take you to the outskirts of town. Perhaps then you can gain some composure.”
Jasper nodded stiffly at the deal, figuring he had no other choice, unable to stop his gaze from returning to the crimson. His family didn’t know where he was, and he couldn’t count on Alice getting a vision right then. Honestly, he hoped she didn’t, despite preferring her assistance to this man’s. Jasper was embarrassed. He knew his family understood his struggle, that he was still fairly new to this, but it still filled him with shame. It was pathetic that he couldn’t move a muscle just because someone else had consumed a fresh blood bag somewhere near him. He squeezed his eyes shut, willing his muscles to relax, taking his mind elsewhere as he waited for the Original to advance. Composure was certainly what he wanted. But the second he felt manhandled, Jasper’s instincts took over, eyes snapping open, dark and enraged.
He snarled, trying to reach for the arms that ensnared him, attempting to detangle himself so that he could find the source of the blood. His mind cried out, fighting with himself as much as he fought with Kol, willing himself to remain calm. But Kol’s strength made him feel naturally defensive, and protective, the vampire fearful of being overpowered. The more Jasper struggled, the closer Kol came, the more the smell entered his conscious stream. He had to find it, he had to have it. There was a trail, one that could lead him to more, a place where it was stockpiled. Locking in on the scent, Jasper slammed an elbow into the other vampire’s gut, trying anything to loosen the grip.
