Four things i’m looking for an applicant.
Whenever my supervisor is asking me to take part of an interview for a new staff, i’m always looking for the following:
(1) Not a fresh graduate - The problem with new graduates is in a year or two, they could be thinking of a career change. What I want is someone that could be trained and be worked with for at least five years. Better yet, someone which has future plans for graduate studies.
(2) Somebody who lives near the workplace - During holidays kasi or some long weekend, there’s a tendecy that they will be gone for the whole duration. Someone living near the workplace is an advantage because it wouldn’t be hard to call them even during these special holidays. Ayaw ko lang ung bigla-biglang magsasabi on the same day na uuwi then wala ka nang magawa dahil bumili na ng plane ticket pauwi
(3) On gender basis - I prefer a male for a few reasons like being given physical work without complaining or better in critical thinking skills. The problem with them is sometimes they do their own decisions that it’s hard to motivate them. At the same time, I also prefer a female because I think that they could handle data more carefully than boys. The problem with them is when they get pregnant, ang daming bawal. So it depends on the type of job.
(4) UP graduate - because it’s UP. Lol it’s not really a plus factor but mostly, the first thing that i’m looking in a the resume is the college. Then I go over the other stuff like the experience etc.
Anyway, it really depends on the type of job. Everybody has their own criteria. But sometimes, we have to stick to what makes us comfortable. Pero why not try something different? It’s a challenge and a risk. So whatever happens, it really comes down to someone that you can trust and work with easily.
