Memories of the Vale

Came across my favorite area of Prospect Park fenced off - the yew tree where I hide ceramic totems is dead, along with many other decades old trees. Amongst the stumps is a black cat, taking in the death with me.

I mourn for the rabbits who come out at night, for those who sleep under the yews, for the migrating birds who will find this once reliable haven in NYC disturbed by bulldozers, for the wild black cat who will need to find a new home.
