WHERE: The Whiskey Barrel, Monster Mash Bash WITH: @recklessreyes
The bar was utter chaos the night of the Monster Mash Bash– as expected– which meant Javi had been burning it at both ends from the moment he’d stepped foot inside the Whiskey Barrel. It left him little time to touch base with anyone, even his own co-workers, despite how badly he’d ached to steal a moment of Adri’s time…even if he still wasn’t quite sure what the fuck he’d do with it. They’d synced up in terms of costumes, they were moving slowly, but that didn’t mean that Javi really knew what to make of it all. And that only made him more desperate to check in, almost like he was constantly second guessing himself with her, because he didn’t know any better– not after seven years away from anything meaningful.
Finally, he found himself next to her behind the bar, both mixing drinks for whoever the fuck had caught their eye first. He took that as a moment to try and get a word in edgewise. “I told Aslan I was dressing up as him this year,” he laughed over the noise, gesturing at his lion costume. Whenever he’d thought of dressing up as a lion, he hadn’t thought twice about what Aslan’s name literally meant. But once he’d figured it out, he’d taken full advantage. “He wasn’t too impressed,” Javi laughed, even though the reality was that Aslan had been a perfectly good sport about it.
“You making it?” He prompted, shifting focus onto her, rather than the madness erupting all around them, “Sorry I haven’t really had a chance to check in at all– nature of the beast, right?”
