Comprehensive list & analysis of Ana Diets
Let me start this post by saying that I donāt promote most of the diets below; the purpose of this summary is simply for convenience and informative purposes.
Skinny Bride Diet: As the name implies, meant to help you lose weight before a wedding. Lots of fasting, SUPER low calorie counts and very strict. Exercise is not required.
Pros: Quick results if you can stick to it
Cons: Will gain back weight when you go back into normal eating, unsustainable, way too long to keep up, very unhealthy, will have side effects. I highly doubt anyone could do this for 3 months!
ABC Diet: Probably THE most famous ana diet out there. Calories alternate between 0-500 most days with one 800 calorie day. Few have completed the full 50 days but those who have have seen results
Pros: Again, quick results, slightly more calories than skinny bride diet, also shorter
Cons: Will put weight on once you go back to normal eating, unsustainable, lots of fasting, hard to complete
Giovanniās 30: Combination of Apple detox (where you just eat apples, Skinny Girl Diet and ABC diet. Slightly more sustainable and healthier than the others due to the fact that you can have unlimited fruits and veggies!
Pros: encourages fruits and veggie consumption, if you have enough of these it is semi sustainable, promotes some healthy habits, will lose weight quickly if done correctly
Cons: easy to overdo/underdo the vegetables & fruits, having apples for days straight sounds horrible, must consume 2 tbsp of olive oil straight on night 16, long, does include some fasting. Once you stop this diet, you will gain some weight back
Aliceās Diet: Based on the fairytale, this extreme low cal diet has days were you are only allowed tea or tea & milk. All other amounts are very small.Ā
Pros: Quick results, good if you like tea, shorter than other diets makes it less dangerous
Cons: Will gain back weight when you go back into normal eating, unsustainable, calorie counts are tiny
IU Diet: Based on Korean IdolĀ āIUā who allegedly lost a lot of weight doing this. This meal plan is pretty simple but extremely restrictive
Pros: Quick results, easy meals, can do for as long or as little as you want
Cons: Will gain back weight when you go back into normal eating, unsustainable, repetitive, bad if you donāt like any of the items, lacking nutrients, lacking choice
Russian Gymnast Diet: Used by a world renowned gymnast to slim down, this diet features extreme calorie and food restrictions promising to make you lose a lot of weight FAST
Pros: Simple, more options than IU, vegan friendly, allows other 0 cal drinks, doesnāt require exercise
Cons: Will gain back weight when you go back into normal eating, unsustainable, repetitive, bad if you donāt like any of the items
Fix it Fast Diet: As the name suggests this is meant to help you quickly slim down for an event or occassion. This diet combines fasting, low calories and mono diets were you only eat 1 food item throughout the day
Pros: Choice, you get calories not certain foods, promises quick loss, short
Cons: Restrictive, unsustainable, will most likely not lose 20lbs
Skinny Girl Diet: Another very popular diet, this is less extreme than the others we have seen but still low restricts between 0-700kcal a day.
Pros: You get more on weekends, more sustainable, can fit in more varied foods, only one fast day, flexible
Cons: Restrictive, you will put weight back on if you go back to eating normally, will have health effects in the long run
Ana in Training: Another spin off on the ABC. This is less extreme in that it is, like the name implies, training for the ABC.Ā
Pros: less extreme, up to 850 calories some day, only a month, will help you lose weight and maybe ease into the ABC
Cons: strict, low calories, unsustainable long term, unhealthy
Healthy Skinny Girl Diet: If the AIT is a less extreme version of the ABC, the HSGD is a healthier version of the Skinny Girl Diet. This is the most sustainable of the Ana diets around and will help you reach your gw whilst minimising side effects, if done correctly.
Pros: donāt count fruits and veggies, only 21 days, more calories on weekends, less extreme, sustainable, pretty healthy if you eat enough fruits and veg.Ā
Cons: slower weight loss, if you donāt eat enough fruit and vegetables you will be most likely lacking some nutrients
