At His Hotel
Leo was going over some paperwork in his office when there was a knock at the door. He looked up and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's open. Come in"
"You really do own your own hotel..." Jax mused as he stepped inside. "It would appear I've lost both of my brothers in this godforsaken city. I was hoping mayhaps you could spare sometime to help me look for them? Being that you live here and all."
"I didnt say I didnt want to talk to people, I said people don't usually talk to me. There's a difference. I get looked over because I'm introverted." Josh shrugs.
"Sounds like a cop out to me. Maybe you are just too lazy to hold up a conversation. Ever think about that?"
"Maybe not for fear but for protection. We have strong allies here in New York. Perhaps even stronger than Malachi" Leo says with a shrug before sighing.
"Jax you seem genuine and that you don't truly want to do Malachi's bidding but the fact still stands that you are bound to him. I don't know much about binding but unless you find your soulmate and break the bond to him, he can bend you and your brothers to his will and call you back. I've heard Malachi has a way of getting the information he wants even when the person doesn't want to give it" he says "Skylar is special to my platonic soulmate and his family and he fought long and hard to be free. I won't be the one to jeopardize that, I hope you understand. Even if your pretty face is tempting."
"I have no doubt you can hold your own against Malachi, you seem very capable. A fighter as well as a nurturer." Leo hums "We know he will eventually come here if you and your brothers are here, with my brothers here. He feels like he's close to finding Skylar. We just want to hold off his rampage of New York as long as possible"
Jax fell silent, thinking. He couldn't even remember a time where he had the means to do things he actually wanted to do. First he belonged to his parents, then the to the Queen, now to Malachi. The only thing that mattered now was his tiny family, with his brothers.
"I'm not here to cause trouble for anyone. Not unless they cross me or my brothers first. Keep your secrets about Skylar's whereabouts. I wouldn't want to cause him more harm. But if it came down to him or one of my brothers...I'm sorry but I'd help Malachi."
"As long as he doesn't have a reason to question my loyalty. It's fine."
"Jacob's throat? If Jacob's with Dax it's because Dax consented to it." Charlie shrugged "Jacob doesn't do the whole non-con dub-con thing. Not his style. And Jacob can hold his own. He's a knight"
"I don't mind a challenge. He's fun to make out with. Which is odd for me to say because I usually only hook up with vampires" the fae shrugged before laughing "Clever, at least they rhyme. Jaxson is pretty cool though. Do you not like it?"
"Dax tends to get in over his head. He's too trusting. That's why he needs protecting from us." He said darkly. "You mess with one of us you end up with all three. It sometimes deters the smart ones. Now there is Jacob and all this soulmate business. I can't "
Jax sighed deeply. "Your funeral. Max is fun. That's what makes him popular. But he can get moody and might castrate you. So I'd be careful."
"It makes people not take us seriously. So no...I don't like it."
"Now that you mention it I did see someone with your face disappearing with my cousin a while back. Dax, I presume? So that makes you...?" Charlie asked. He was aware of the Moonfogs and their connection to Malachi but he was also aware it was against their will so he really didn't see them as much of a threat since most of the Lee Moons flew under Malachi's radar.
Jax scowled. "Yeah. That was him. I should have let Max slit his throat for touching my brother." Then he smiled eerily. "He has to sleep sometime."
Shaking his head he peered at Charlie. "I should warn you about Max. He's a lot to handle. You might want to run away and leave him be."
"I'm Jax. Which yes I understand that makes us Jax, Max and Dax. Our parents had a sense of humor. Well technically I'm Jaxson."
"You could hide. There are plenty that have done it successfully, some here in New York" Leo shrugged, letting his hand drop once the Fae stepped back. "I only hope to be there when Malachi meets his end and I hope he dies screaming. I have seen the aftermath of what he does to people and I wouldnt wish that on anyone. I watched the light leave the eyes of someone close to my platonic soulmate. He is still picking up the pieces"
"I know this but I was the sibling who fought against it and they threatened my life. I left so they wouldn't kill me so I could protect them and it only made things worse" Leo says with a sigh. "I'm sorry about you and yours, for what it's worth. It's a crap situation all around"
"Why would we hide? We don't fear him. And we're planning a fitting demise for him."
Jax cocked his head. "Who is that?" Then his eyes widened. "You know the whereabouts of Skylar? Where is he? Tell me. We can use that to our advantage."
"He's a real creep. He was trying to woo Max. Luckily Max can't be wooed. Then he turned his sights on Dax. That leaves me...and I'm going to be ready for him."
Charlie held up his hands in surrender. "All you had to do was say stop, Jeez. If that wasn't you I was just making out with then who was it?"
Jax busied himself readjusting his clothes. "I don't know! There are three of us. Though I'm fairly certain it was Max. Dax is a little more..." He eyed the fae. "Purposeful with his choices."
"You caught me off guard! I wasn't expecting anyone to talk to me. People usually talk to my friend Kwan. Hes the social one"
"Yet you came to a party. Not wanting to talk to people. That's dumb."
Without thinking, Leo reached out and touched the brand. "He branded you." He frowns "That son of whore needs to be stopped." He says through gritted teeth. "He can't have my brothers and you and your brothers deserve better. Malachi deserves to die alone. Alone and a painful torturous death for his sins. I know many right now that would kill him themselves. My parents deserve the same fate for bringing this upon my siblings." Leo didn't know why but he felt...protective...of the branded Fae. "Jax right?"
Jax resisted the urge to stiffen at the touch. He'd grown accustomed to being touched against his will by Malachi. He didn't think this man was at all like his master. "He branded all of us." He replied, taking a step back. His lip curved up a bit. "Oh...of course he does. But nothing I can do about it. Or my brothers. We're his. Legally."
"Your parents are just like mine. They come from a time when selling your offspring was the norm. Doesn't make it right. Doesn't make it wrong. It just is." He offered Leo a soft smile. "Yeah. That's me. I'm sorry about your brothers...for what that's worth."
Charlie pulled back from the person he was making out with and nipped their bottom lip. "You ready to tell me your name now, sweetness or should I try to persuade you some more?" He smirked.
Jax resisted the urge to punch the other fae. "I told you I'm not him! 3 feet of personal space you harlot!"
"Wait what? You were talking to me?"
"That's rude manners. What are they teaching nephilim these days..."
"A Moonfog I take it?" Leo guesses "You're right though, it is a challenge either way."
Leo's eyes narrowed at Jax at the mention of Malachi. "What do you know about Malachi?" He asks "And my brothers will not be going to that bastard even if I have to die trying to protect them. I've seen what he does to people, how he leaves them after he's had his way. Please tell me you aren't involved"
Jax sighed rolling his neck. He tugged down the collar of his shirt to show his brand. “Ask me how I know?” He fell silent for a moment pressing his lips together. “I know far more than I’d like. I know he is obsessed with the idea of spawning children. And will stop at nothing to attain them. I know his intentions for your brothers. I am not involved unless he orders me to be. That is my sin. My brothers as well. It would seem our parents are the same.”
"A Moonfog I take it?" Leo guesses "You're right though, it is a challenge either way."
"I have the same issue with Finch. He's just so angry all the time. I mean I get why but it makes it hard sometimes. Kye is sensible, Cyprien pretty much keeps to himself and his books unless his platonic brings him out. The other one I worry about sometimes is Thorn. He's so innocent and naive." Leo says with a sigh.
“I worry about Dax because he just dives in without thinking about things. And now he’s hiding something and I don’t know why.”
Jax’s eye twitched a bit. “I’d worry more about Malachi finding out they’re out and about. Especially since his goal is to brand them. He tapped the side of his neck randomly. “It does suck about Kye and Finch. He won’t hurt them without a reason.”
"A Moonfog I take it?" Leo guesses "You're right though, it is a challenge either way."
"I don't pay much attention to Max. Mostly he's fine. It's Dax I have to keep an eye on. He gets into mischief all the time. Not that Max doesn't. But at least Max cleans up after himself." Jax mused as he nursed his drink. He wasn't usually chatty. But the drink was loosening his sensibilities.
"Who can relax with 10 siblings running around, some causing chaos?"
"It doesn't matter how many siblings you have. It's a challenge either way."
