Theory: Aira's rivalry with Momo has nothing to do with Okarun
and everything to do with Momo calling her out on her shit.
Ok so my interpretation of Aira's character is that she is a narcissist. That doesn't mean she's necessarily a bad person, just that her motives always wrap around toward propping up her own perception of herself, and her bad behavior tends toward the cartoonish. She has a hard time being honest with herself.
Aira gives us a full run-down of her self-concept: she's the kind, pretty, talented, intelligent, savior of the world. She tries to live up to that, but it's a lot of work, especially when she doesn't genuinely care that much about all the other people in the world she's supposedly being kind to. Everything she does, as a narcissist who's constantly thinking about herself, is to prove to herself that she is living up to her self-concept. If she can't do that, she'll have a crisis.
When Aira flirts with Okarun and then crows about this behind his back, she doesn't perceive this as bullying or manipulating his feelings, because Okarun only exists, to her, as a prop or stage-dressing with which to demonstrate how kind and pretty she is. Momo hears her gloating, humiliates her and renders her helpless, and then growls that Aira doesn't know how to appreciate a guy like Okarun.
Doesn't know how? Doesn't know how? But Aira is smart! Also, she's kind! She'd never manipulate a nerd's feelings just to callously dump him in order to test her own social dominance! Right? Right? Good kind people are sincere and honest! Aira is sincere and honest!
Momo has issued Aira a challenge that she can't turn down any more than Turbo Granny could turn down a foot race.
For Aira to maintain her own self-concept now, she has to prove that she was being sincere. That she was actually flirting with Okarun out of genuine interest. And also, to avoid being a loser who chases after a boy who is already in a relationship with another girl, she has to win his affections away from Momo.
We eventually learn in the manga that Aira once threw herself into practicing piano for an entire year, just to beat some other girl she didn't know. After she beat her, she stopped, because she never cared about piano, just about being the best. Now Momo is the other girl, and Okarun is the trophy.
