That time of year again!
You know what i find quite interesting, Merlin is not Gaius' apprentice. He is not at any point in an apprenticeship. Its so commonplace fanon that id wholey assumed that he actually would become an actual apprentice at some point. But no, never in canon do they refer to him as Gaius' apprentice. Merlin is his Assistant. And as such isn't really expected to be learning anything nor is he being taught. He's just there to run errands really, which makes sense cuz its all just a pretense anyways.
Apparently when someone goes "which of these two heroes would win in a fight?" The correct response is not "well why are they fighting?"
Personally i think its a relevant question but powerscalers Do Not Agree
Evolving as a person! thought for sure my friends would suggest a moody/mean character as the one i should have Gregor romance(based off previous favorite characters of mine) but instead they were like "no you specifically would love Elliot" i dont know what this implies about me but
playing Stardew Valley for the first time with some friends and they both just made themselves the farmers while i made this weird lil emo guy
The lore so far is that everyone in pelican town loves Gregor actually

Ive always loved Freya and the idea of her being Merlins first lost love. I was very attached to the whole storyline as a teen. However reading their relationship as more about him finally connecting with someone and feeling attached to her and sorta misreading that as a romantic feeling makes a lot of sense too. Especially if you're reading having magic as being an allegory for being queer.
Convo with my teen brother today
Bro: can we go see Obsession
Me: huh?
Bro: you know the one with Zendaya and Tom Holland
Me: HUH?!?
Bro: its starts with an o...
Me: you mean The Odyssey
Bro: yeah that
Ultimately i think s4e7 is a good episode and I especially like the conversation Giaus has with Arthur at the end of the episode.
I like how it includes the only instance of Aggravaine telling a believable lie (tho its to Gwaine)
I kinda like the way Arthur guiltily stalks around the room avoiding Giaus' eye contact while Aggravaine questions him. I think its an interesting framing, Arthur physically distancing himself from this moment. As well having Aggravaine sitting reminded me a lot how Uther was often framed. Its a neat parallel.
I despise how it rehashes conversations and actions from the previous episode rather than building off of it. Like Aggravaine casting doubt on the knights followed by Arthur rejecting the idea kinda works because Aggravaine doesnt realize Arthur had this conversation with Merlin already. But simultaneously Aggravaine taking charge of the "theres a mole, we have to figure it out" thing feels like backtracking. Arthur was already on top of it and his conclusion WAS Aggravaine. It wouldve been interesting to highlight more Aggravaine's desperate fumbling to convince him as a means of distracting from his own treason if Arthur had not immediately believed him in the previous episode. If only Arthur's suspicions stayed on Aggravaine until he managed to set up enough clues leading to Gaius instead. At the very least I appreciate that Arthur did not fully believe the traitor to be Gaius, and that his reaction to it being "proven" was to simply let Gaius leave rather than persecute him in any way.
I liked Merlin and Gwaine running off together.... this wouldve been an Arthur and Merlin quest against Uthers wishes just a season ago.. :(
And I liked Alator ultimately siding with Merlin.
Tortured once more by how EASILY they couldve killed Morgana and yet didn't even try
