User Interface (UI): Very clean and easy to navigate. AO3 is also entirely ad-free!
Userbase: Like any website with the ability to comment, it's a mixed bag. I'd say people are fairly polite, but you'll come across jerks here and there.
Variety: If a fandom exists, there's probably a least one fic about it on AO3.
Freedoms: The website is very strongly anti-censorship, so you can really write and read whatever you want. No account is required to read on AO3, but authors are able to lock their fics to only users.

UI: It's much more awkward on mobile than on a computer. Interestingly, they have a section entirely dedicated to finding a beta reader! Though FFN has some.. built-in AI feature? That part kind of kills the entire experience for me.
Userbase: FFN's userbase is defnitely on the smaller side. The comment sections I've seen are often FILLED with bots and scams.
Variety: Excellent variety! They have a large library of fandoms, especially older ones, if that's what you're interested in.
Freedoms: FFN policy states it will not house explicit content, and it has some (in my opinion) weird restrictions. For example, no interactive stories, no chatfic... It's not the best.

UI: Simple and clean. Searching is okay, but they don't have a good filtering or tagging system in place. It's technically not just a fanfiction website (it also has quizzes and polls).
Userbase: Much like Wattpad, the website has a lot of younger users. It's a bit nicer from what I've seen personally, though.
Variety: Good variety across many fandoms!
Freedoms: You do not need to have an account unless you want to post something or comment. It's not terribly restrictive about what you can post, but there are still some content guidelines to note.

UI: Almost exactly the same as AO3.
Userbase: Small. I can't view comments since I don't have an account, so I'm not really sure what the environment is like.
Variety: Decent? It's, once again, a fairly small website, so things are scarce.
Freedoms: Ad-free! You need an account to comment, and I believe authors able to make their fics user-only? Other than snuff and CSEM (reasonable exclusions), you can post whatever you like.
OVERALL RATING: 6/10

UI: Decent. Their search function is pretty basic and I think they'd benefit from a better tagging system. The fact you can comment on every paragraph is a little distracting as a reader.
Userbase: The user etiquette is a little lacking, but I'd say half of that is because a large portion of their audience is very young.
Variety: From what I can tell, there's good variety!
Freedoms: You do need an account to read stories past a certain point and to comment. They have a really specific and extensive list on what content is or isn't allowed to be posted.
OVERALL RATING: 5/10

SK8 Infinity day (Reki's birthday) instagram stream write up
They started by talking about how it's been 2 years since they did an instagram live. Last year they had the OVA event on this day instead.
Then they talked about how it's the 6th time they've celebrated Reki's birthday since the Anime came out. They said it's so impressive that they're celebrating a character's birthday so much for a 1 season original anime. It really shows the love from everyone for this series.
They kept trying to read the chat and for some reason Tasuku kept trying to read the English ones even though his English is bad lol... He read out "is anyone recording this" and then realized what he said and was like "well that's a bit bad but thank you!"
In the survey they did before they asked what people would give Reki for his birthday so they're giving the answer now.
They announced that the text and the illustration for live drama reading they did at the event last year is going to be uploaded as a present to Reki so look forward to that being uploaded soon! (I do have my videos with subs uploaded on youtube though lol)
They gave Tasuku real presents for Reki
Chiaki just brought out a baby maple tree for Reki to build a skateboard out of. Tasuku was so unimpressed lol. He did not want it at all and said it would take like 30 years to get big enough to make one. Just give him a skateboard!!
Chiaki told him he has to take it to Okinawa and give it to Reki the next time he sees him.
They say that a lot of people answered materials to make skateboards etc. but the most popular response was Salt flavored toothpaste lol.
They said one interesting answer was....

Tasuku said it was a very otaku answer.
Chiaki told him he had to take that to Okinawa to Reki too.
Next the gave the answers to the fan poll as "Beef." They had to guess the percentage of fans who chose each of the answer options to the questions in the poll. Whoever guessed the percentage closest wins.
First question:
They're playing a video game where have to cooperate to make meals. What would happen if Reki, Langa, Miya, and Hiromi played?
Options: The 4 of them work together and achieve the goal, They can't decide who will play which parts and so they never play the game
BTW..... the board and the balloons are actually backwards! The instagram live is recorded mirrored so they made the answer board backwards so the fans could read it on stream (was there not another way to do this????)

Tasuku joked that Chiaki is too lucky. Chiaki said he just loves sk8 that much. Tasuku complained it's his birthday.

People answered A because if they failed they'd probably not be able to skate and so they would study to pass. They'd get Miya to tutor them. (Miya is a middle schooler, is he that smart?? lol)
People answered B because they'd probably be too interested in skating to care about studying.
To C, people answered that he wouldn't be able to read the kanji, or his writing was so bad the teacher wouldn't be able to read it lol. Reki would be scared about getting punished so he'd study.
Ainosuke uses the Japanese conjunction "tadashi" (however) in a conversation with someone. Tadashi....
Options: can always tell the difference between the conjunction and his name in any conversation and doesn't respond, Twitches slightly

A fan answered "Tadashi is a dog so he wouldn't make that mistake" and Tasuku said it was a very fan answer.
Fans who answered B said they really just wanted to see it happen and that Ainosuke would probably troll him with how he said his "tadashi" lol
At this point they're tied, so they're doing one last question.

Chiaki says that Tasuku probably thought people would want to see them ride a banana boat together... but surfing is skating on the ocean so of course that's the answer.
They started reading the fan answers and one said "They can skate even at the Ocean" and Chiaki said "see!" They also said that they'd probably compete about who was better.
and people who answered B said they wanted to see them ride the same thing sometimes. Someone also said they'd even compete on that and fall in the ocean.
They say that the question about them failing the test was from Utsumi.
Then they flipped their scripts and I was like.... what's that picture????
but we quickly found out!

Hatanaka read this comment from Utsumi and they showed the picture.
They joked that it looked like a completely different anime and they don't have skateboards. Chiaki said it looks like Hokkaido and Tasuku started to censor him and just say "hohohoho" instead of saying Hokkaido. Was that a slip on on purpose I'm not sure lol
They appear to be dressed as Matagi which are traditional Japanese winter hunters from northern Japan.
Chiaki says maybe... in season two they'll be... and Tasuku finishes in "hohohoho"? and then said we can't say that.
They start guessing about what it is like a drama cd, or they time traveled lol.
Then they announced they're going to have a cafe at animate and they have a partial image of the merch for that
Their clothes look very fluffy... what could it be?? Is it the same as what they just showed? Something different?
They said that Utsumi is working hard on season 2 so they'll announce more when they can. Hatanaka said "maybe we can give you something next year" and Chiaki said "we can't say that" so it's just vague lol
Then he just awkwardly segued into "but it's screenshot time"
They posed for screenshots... Chiaki sort of grabbed Tasuku's chest and he called it sexual harassment! Tasuku told people not to show their families that screenshot lol
They said it's okay to write on social media that "Sk8 is winter"... which is vague and says nothing lol

They didn't really give a ton of information but it's something.
I'm looking forward to Season 2!! I hope you all are too!!!

we also went to a film emulsion panel. they talked about like. the iso of potatoes??? and using vegetables as film lol??? plus some budget cams and stuff. really interesting pannel!!
