   "Do you trust me?" He asked again with his signature sheepish grin.

A/N and TW: This story will be MATURE, it will touch on topics such as mental illness, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and some drug use. (I will probably add the page break and have a similar message to this before each chapter.) It will not be incredibly graphic nor will it go into any detail, but I just wanted to be mindful of those that are reading. I care about all of you and want you to feel like this is a SAFE SPACE. The “character” of Pete is based on Pete Davidson, but of course this is a work of fanfiction, so no claims are in any way real or associated with him. Enjoy!

___________________________________      He extended his hand closer to me. In the moonlight I could still see the scars on his arm, peeking through the dark ink of his tattoos, as if they were greeting me in an uncomfortably familiar manner.      My eyes began to swell with tears and my heart felt like an anchor. I wanted to distance myself from this and tried running from it since the beginning, yet here I am right next to it. We were both train wrecks and my brain told me we needed to stay away from each other, but my gut churned in protest. It was the first time in what felt like forever where I actually felt something, anything...instead of jaded apathy. I was jumping into something...both metaphorically and well, physically.      I couldn't help but smile back.      I grabbed his hand and took the leap.

...TWO WEEKS EARLIER...

     I was just tired, that's all.      Tired of the deafening silence every night.      Tired of the thoughts scratching at my brain, begging to get inside.      Tired of this swelling rage trapped inside my ribcage.      Tired of walking around in this shell of my own skin.      I just wanted to sleep. In my sleep I was safe from myself.      Sometimes, I was so desperate to sleep, I didn't want to wake up.      And that's how I ended up here in the first place.
