Day 57. We’re “eating out” to celebrate our moms by way of having restaurant food delivered to our homes. We’ve reached a time when eating at restaurants or any form of outsourced cooked meals has become more practical over laboring in the kitchen for an hour or so for a meal for one or two. Day 55. Last night, about midnight, while watching #AngHulingElBimbo, la mudra forced/encouraged/enthusiastically ordered me to check how beautiful the moon was. So I paused and pulled my camera out of the cobwebs of this quarantine. We played hide and sick beneath the clouds for a bit, muscle spasms for waiting too long, focusing manually too long without a tripod withstanding. And there you are, 60D’s first picture in quarantine. She probably wouldn’t even bother looking at the moon pre-pandemic. So, that’s a bright side. Sagada Sunset. Random trip with random people. Just about what my monkey mind is currently obsessing on— something new. Day 39. As much as I am a home person, this introvert’s personality also includes a regular need for novelty in different forms: environment, interaction, ideas, interests, stimuli, learnings, to name a few, or else I risk oversaturation or burnout. And that personality spec makes a multi-hyphenate, multi-passionate, dabbling, jack of many trades renaissance soul. I’ve appreciated me being that way. Did I always love it? No. My teenage self loathed the lack of mastery in anything, the seeming directionlessness of life, the un/subtle judgments of either you’re lazy, procrastinating, wasting potential, or just really going nowehere. Others would say it’s a flaw, our tribe call it a gift. Even if that also entails slower progress, we get to explore and experience a lot more things than the specialists. So yes, I am currently in dire need of a new environment. It doesn’t have to be long. Day 36. Going for a supplies run in a bit when the sun shines a softer yellow. It feels a bit like going out to war. I have to be precise, quick, strong, and strategic. All movements planned out. 2 week’s meal planned. Grocery list ready. A set of clothing ready in the bathroom for when I bathe upon my return. I even have to consider the way I tie my long hair so it won’t accidentally touch anything else. I made sure I have enough sleep at least for today so I have my immune system ready for battle. I prepared a healthy meal. I have the whole day planned to the dot. It’s different from usual but the personal change itself isn’t so bad. I’m extra mindful. Deliberate. Intentional. A contrast from the autopilot mindless hovering usually just winging unimportant tasks like this one. Well, life has a funny way. Funny and morbid and scary and life-changing way. Grateful that I got a memory full of travels and laughters before this pandemia. Now, it made more sense, although it also did at that time, and for every trip, always.
