Evie felt her stomach twisting into knots as Jaz spoke, trying to explain herself, trying to explain why she was the way sheâd always be, and then suddenly everything was so crystal clear. So blatantly obvious. It was clarification like Evie had never experienced and she was ready to explain herself, and what she wanted. Her eyes darted over the room, taking in how clean and simply and⊠normal it all was. And yet it could have belonged to anyone. She looked back up at Jaz with the smallest of smiles, opening her mouth to speak. âI know all of that Jaz⊠I get it. Youâre see through. The people who are the most guarded are the easiest to read. You donât let people, because trust is for the faint-hearted. For the dreamers and hopers, for the people that have faith in things they shouldnât. Youâve convinced yourself that you donât need to trust, or feel, and I scare you because I make you feel. Make you feel something for me, and you donât do feelings. But doesnât that just mean that its different with me? So you block your feelings out for everyone, or you donât let them happen in the first place, ok, I get that. But you canât help yourself! With me, you just feel without meaning to! Doesnât that mean anything? Am I not worth feeling for? Jazmine?â she demanded, jumping out of her seat on the bed and pacing the room. âDonât you understand, Jazmine? I donât want anything from you, I just want you! Just you! I want to be with you, be around you. Hold you and kiss you and talk with you about everything⊠Just finally be around someone and actually be yourself? I just want you, Jaz! Why wonât you let me in? You donât have to do anything, or be anything.. I donât want to put a label on whatever this is, but I canât give up on the first thing good thats happened to me since my mum died!â her voice loud and demanding now, but her face softened as she dropped her eyes to Jazâs again. She leant in and kissed her again, butterflies erupting in her stomach, breaking away with a frustrated moan. âDid you not feel that? Like everything was finally ok as long as my lips didnât leave yours?â she asked, her voice quiet now.
