Everybody starts with a chance. What happens next isn’t always fair. Though the world failed him, his true self still shows up from time to time, always waiting for someone to understand.

It’s not that he feels it — he IS Anxiety. We can see it in the way he walks and talks. Breathes. Poor Smeagol…

He’s been called everything. Sure, I get that he could be all of it and more (I myself can’t handle the cuteness), but sometimes our perceptions seem to overshadow his most defining trait. Smeagol’s sadness transcends the fantasy of Lord of the Rings and touches on something that feels so quietly and deeply human.

You can’t help but feel for him, even in these bare bones.
