Sundance Culture
If I had to describe the culture of Sundance Film Festival in one word, it would be talkative. No one is ‘too big’ to talk to, if you decide to approach them. Some of the best conversations I had were with working producers or screenwriters who were not just willing but excited to talk to me. This made me excited every time I got on a bus or shuttle, because it meant I could meet, and talk to, someone new. Because of this, I got great advice about my dream career that I’ll be sure to take with me. This culture of talking to anyone and everyone seems to foster a spirit of cooperation which is necessary in filmmaking. It didn’t seem like anyone was closed off and competitive, but rather helpful, and intrigued just to be there. This really makes Sundance a place of it’s own. When I got back to school, and saw nearly everyone on their phones, and no one talking to each other, it made me wish I was back in park city, and that speaks wonders to the culture of Sundance.
