First Believer; Last Light.

She’s bathed in spring. Flowers are pressed into braids and dangling from curls; frame her eyes in a low-sitting crown; adorn her shoulders as a loosely woven shawl. Rapunzel has made all these things for her, even gifted her the dress she’s wearing, made of flaura and fauna and all sorts of things from the earth. Sophie had been so sad; so brought down from all of the death and heartbreak. Marie, Rapunzel… Of course, she had known that Rapunzel would come back, but the fact still remained she’d had to die in the first place. She never understood that part. Why did one life have to end in order to start a new one? Couldn’t the two co-exist? She supposed not, otherwise Manny might have stepped in sooner. At least he stepped in at all. Now Rapunzel got to get to know Sophie all over again, just as she would for the third time when this was all over. If Sophie concentrated really hard, she could make herself believe that was a good thing. After all, she’d just spent the better half of the day with the new Spring Spirit catching her up on where she was and why she was here; what it meant and who were friends were. It was nice. It had distracted her and now she was back to roaming around the castle, this time with a small smile as she absently traced over all of the nature she was adorned with. She always felt connected to the elements, and Spring and Winter especially held a place in her heart. She enters the lobby gracefully; bowing upon seeing the room was occupied already. “What a fine day in the kingdom, is it not?” She just wanted to play pretend. Just for a bit.
Slender fingers drag through his hair with a heavy degree of exhaustion, and Jamie’s shoulders hunched forward as his hands slipped down to press against his face. His field-guide lay open in front of him, pages strewn about with half-finished drawings scribbled over them. He was remaking the whole thing - it was a lot.. neater than it had been, and he’d been able to explore the fae all over again, and remember old experiences. That had been.. nice.
A good way to distract himself from his surroundings.
He picked up a drawing of a dragon - more specifically, Toothless, and smiled lightly, shaking his head and setting it back down upon the table. He could do with a break. Pushing himself up onto his feet, Jamie stretched, letting out a small groan, and then his sister’s voice caught his ear. Instinctively, he rolled his eyes and smiled, turning to face her.
She was all dressed up; no different to how she used to do back home, just with even more flowers than usual, and in response to her words, he offered a long, flourishing bow, smile threatening to grow into a grin.
“Why yes, m’lady, it certainly is.”
"What do you think? Think it's warm enough to go for a fly?"
"Dude, you rescued a Griffon?" Wilbur grinned, shaking his head, amused. "That’s beyond awesome. I mean, my family has a pet dino, but he was brought from the past by a crazy guy in a bowler hat who wanted to destroy my dad’s future, so he tried to kidnap a younger version of my dad with the dino by using mind control on it, and it almost ate me.."
"I mean, that was crazy. Tiny’s a big softie, though."
"A dino.. Like.. an ACTUAL dinosaur?" Jamie's eyes widened. "Seriously? That.. That's amazing!" He laughed and leaned forward a little bit. "What kind of Dinosaur? Wait - it tried to eat you because it was being controlled by some guy in a bowler hat??" Jamie's eyes were wide with rapt attention now.
"It SOUNDS crazy!"
The air was unusually calm.
"Manny…" The name slipped, in understanding, from her lips. It seemed fitting, somehow. Realizing this kid somehow knew more about her than she did about herself, she decided to trust to him. For now.
Everything seemed to be making sense, in a… really jumbled up puzzle set kind of way, but at least she could see the basic picture. However, her world halted at one word:
Died.
"Wait, what?” She asked, incredulous. “What do you mean, I died? I’m alive. How can I be alive if I died? Is that why you called me a spirit?” Her head was spinning. She needed to lie down. The earth seemed to meet her as she sunk down into it, a bed of moss rising from the plush of the castle lawn. Soft, and woven with flowers.
"No. No far-fetched. Just overwhelming. I- What else can you tell me about myself? You mentioned Jack. Who is he?"
"It was here," Jamie explained, gesturing around him. "You were human.. even as a human you had amazing powers.. you had healing hair.. and you could use fire!" He chuckled a little. "But.. the wolves got to you, before anybody could do a thing.. you were gone." He shook his head sadly. "You were resurrected as a spirit."
He watched as the earth seemed to twist and grow around her. "..Spring, I'd bet."
"Jack's the spirit of winter." Jamie replied. "He's also the Guardian of Fun. He protects children all around the world." He sat down himself, hugging his knees. "..You and him were.. together. You know, like a couple? Since you don't remember it, he probably won't bring it up.. so I will, since you oughta know."
"What do you think? Think it's warm enough to go for a fly?"
"Holy hamburgers! Dude - that’s a Griffon! That.. that is AWESOME!" Wilbur suddenly threw his arms out slightly, a big grin upon his face. It wasn’t every day you saw a griffon.
Okay, granted he had a T-Rex, but still.
It was awesome.
Jamie glanced at Wilbur in surprise as he spoke, before he grinned and pet Byron, who ruffled his feathers, preening slightly at the attention being delivered to him.
"Isn't he though?" He grinned. "He's from home.. My sister and I found him in a goblin nest in the forest and brought him home.. we tended to him, looked after him.. and he's stuck around with us ever since then."
And remember when you went flying on that sled the other day?

"You do not hurt my sister!"
"You do not hurt my sister."
The air was unusually calm.
The boy sitting on the frozen-over palace steps hardly drew anything from Rapunzel but a smile, at first. Just a fleeting one, as their eyes happened to connect while she approached the castle that rose high into the sky in front of her. But then, as he called her name, the blonde stopped suddenly with widened eyes, brows furrowing in her confusion.
"I-I’m sorry, do I know you?" she asked with a wince, not wanting to hurt this stranger’s feelings. But something else was nagging on her mind. "And… did you just call me a… spirit?"
The word sounded familiar and somehow fitting. A spirit… Was that what she was? Not… human? How would this boy know? Suddenly, Rapunzel felt her instincts kick in, and she eyed up the brunette suspiciously. This place just screamed dangerous, and this guy seemed to know her… it wasn’t right. She couldn’t help but be a bit on edge.
Jamie just blinked at her for a moment, before he hit his hand against his head with a groan. "You lost your memory, didn't you." He sighed. "Let me guess, you woke up in a strange place with strange powers with a strange voice telling you what your name is?" He looked up at the moon then, and gestured wildly. "Really, Manny? I mean, I know you like your mysterious vibe, but give them more to work on!"
He sighed slightly. "I'm Jamie Bennett.. and I know you - or, I will.. sort of. I'm from your future.. It's.. really complicated. The reason I know you is.. you've lost all of your memories from before.. You've been at this place for a long time..It's where you met Jack.. oh.." Jamie's face fell suddenly. She wouldn't remember Jack. "You won't remember him either.. okay.. You woke up in a glass coffin.. right? That's.. that's where they laid you after you di- you died. Here. You have friends here.. People who care about you."
"I know it sounds really.. far-fetched and probably suspicious but.. you'll probably run into a lot of people here who are shocked to see you because of all of this."
