what happens in Vegas;
KATE.
That was the one thing Katelynn had always been scared of. How close the pair were right now. The best of friends with an unimaginable friendship that she would never ever want to lose. But she couldn’t ignore this, not with everything she had felt last night. The rush when his fingertips touched her bare skin, how happy she felt to be close to him. Would it be worth it? Should they risk the chance of fucking up their friendship for the rest of their lives? Maybe. Maybe it was. But only time would tell and boy Katelynn was so nervous to even start the discussion. Why wasn’t Jamie taking control? If he could just crack a simple joke or line that would hint he remembered she could ease up a tad. All she was panicking about for now was what if he didn’t actually remember? What if she had dreamed it? No– she was butt naked in his bed this morning. She couldn’t have dreamed it. “Sure.” She cleared her throat, trying to shake the thoughts from her mind. They had a job to do and until Jamie was ready to talk about it himself she would have to keep quiet. Maybe he thought destroying their friendship wasn’t worth it. “Oh you do know how to push the boat out Jamie. You best not forget my extra hash brown this time.” She grinned, dragging her luggage to the check in booth. This was the most painful and boring part about travelling.
As soon as they were through security Katelynn was bolting towards Mcdonalds pulling Jamie in her stride. This sick-y feeling was definitely hunger. Thank goodness it was dead enough for them to order and find a seat before anything came from the nausea. "Maybe after this, we can get those drinks I’ve been promised too.“ She grinned, scoffing a sausage and egg McMuffin in her mouth. God, slow down Katelynn. Was that bad? She was ready to start drinking before 9 in the morning? No of course not. She’s stressed. With a innocent smile she batted her eyelashes at Jamie, which sometimes ( almost always ) seemed to work. "This hangover is your fault, asshole.”
He threw his carry on into the empty seat next to him and slowly unwrapped his own muffin. He started this morning like an asshole, he was going to continue in that way. Sure, Jamie could say something nice, lead her into it, treat the situation as tenderly as he was treating his breakfast but that sounded boring. He took one bite and the egg yolk trailed down his chin into what he was trying to pass as a beard. “Well you better be on some sort of birth control because I didn’t wrap up last night and if you’re cooking the future Lestrade's in there, I ain’t buying you anything other then coke zero.” Then he grinned, all teeth and McMuffin.
In truth, it was this or nothing. While her stomach pains might be hunger induced, his was all butterflies and probably a lot of other flying creatures, if how much it wriggled was anything to go by. Jamie rarely didn’t anything in half’s and this morning it would be no different. Maybe the way he did it would shock her into slapping him or something, which would at least start a conversation. Post-baggage was a good plan too, it was unlikely she wasn’t going to come with him now. Although she might not be so up for staying at the same hotel anymore. Best cast, now they wouldn’t need the second room though. Yes, best case she would laugh and punch his arm and then they would either have a serious talk or make out. He hopes for the second.
