He was officially cooked. He had a project due for Friday for his Biology class, along with a stack of math assignments. He didn't even want to think about the other Biology essay right now.
He glanced at his phone, checking how much time he had until his next lecture. He had his bag on the ground next to him, his laptop on his lap as he worked. He rubbed his forehead between his brows, a small yawn leaving his lips.
He knew he shouldn't have stayed up so late last night, but he got too distracted with editing his recordings for his next video and he didn't even realize how time had slipped through his fingers.
"Hey Matt, what's up man?" He could hear a familiar voice speak to him faintly through the music playing from his earbuds. He glanced over at who it could be, only to realize it was his friend, Devin.
"I'm known worldwide for being absolutely screwed for the next week and a half." He complained, pausing his music as he turned his eyes away from his friend and over to the Biology essay he'd been working on just now.
"Ah, ha. Figured. Editing?" His question was short, one word even, but the heavy sigh from Matt made it clear that his guess had been right about what his friend had been doing all night last night.
"You should start setting an alarm for when you edit so that you don't lose track of time" he suggested. Though even with all the ideas he'd thrown at him in the past, both of the boys knew that he probably wouldn't do it. Both of them also knew that it was Matt's fault, so Dev wasn't even annoyed, knowing that Matt knew it was his issue, and his alone.
"So, then that means there's zero chance of getting you out of the dorm for the party on Saturday?" He asked, tilting his head a bit, seeing his fingers fly across the keyboard. Probably writing a hundred words a minute.
Matt already barely left the shared dorm. Usually only for lectures or if he wanted to go to the gym every now and again. Though even that didn't happen much. It's at a point where he orders groceries when it's his turn to stock up the fridge.
A low noise escapes his throat, too focused on what he had been writing to even think about what his friend had mentioned.
That was until his friend suddenly shut his laptop, though careful not to close it onto his fingers hard enough to hurt him.
"Bro. This is the last party we'll probably have for the term. Hell, even the year, considering people will probably be locking in to actually study." Devin's eyes were locked onto his friend's face. He knew he had to get Matt out of the dorm at least once in a while. Not that he had bad social skill, like his habits would suggest, he just understands that it's his rightful duty to get Matt out of the dorm to socialize with more people than just his friends.
Though all he received was a suspicious expression from the brunette, making it clear that he wasn't fully convinced. Dev looked at him expectantly, like he was waiting for the guy to cave.
"There's gonna be girls there, and you are in desperate need of a girlfriend bro." He pointed out, a small smirk pulling across his lips. All his words seemed to get him was an elbowing in the side.
"It's not desperate." His protest was weak.
"You're right, it's just sad."

After his last lecture that day, he was already planning out what he was going to do for the rest of his day when he gets back to his dorm. He was at his locker, organizing what he would and wouldn't need for homework or even his Biology project.
He could see a few girls in the distance. One of them with an tawny skin-tone and long, black cascading curls. Another with tighter, more coiled, brunette curls and fair skin.
It was one girl that stuck out to him. The blonde with with streaks of red in her hair and a laugh he could probably hear from across the campus. He watched her for a little bit, as she laughed with the ebony haired girl, both of them doubling over in laughter.
He wasn't sure how long he was stuck in his spot, frozen, his gaze never leaving them. Not even to nearby passers-by. At this point, they had stopped laughing that much.
However, his staring must've summoned her to look up since that's exactly what she did. She looked around a bit before her eyes landed on him. His hand that had been holding the door of his locker grasped the metal tightly. He hadn't expected to be spotted basically staring at them, but he had to admit that he wasn't being exactly sneaky about it.
He could see her lips move a bit, speaking too softly for him to hear from such a distance away. Whatever she had just said warranted the other two girls to turn to look at him as well, trying to be discreet about it even if they very clearly weren't.
Matt held eye contact with her for a little longer before he realized how embarrassing this was. He promptly turned his head away, feeling his face become flushed pink before shoving unwanted books into the locker and shutting the door.
After locking it and starting to leave, he could hear some laughter coming from the direction of the three girls. His hands gripped tightly into fists, trying to ignore the fact that they were probably laughing at him for getting embarrassed.
He didn't even know them, he shouldn't care. The blonde girl seemed nice though, or was she just putting on a facade earlier? To talk to him more and then make fun of him later to her friends?
He shook his head, trying to clear his head from his looming thoughts as he exited the campus and to go back to his dorm where Dev was probably already waiting for him.

Dev was sitting on the couch with his laptop in his lap, already changed into more comfortable and casual clothes. Matt sighed heavily as he entered, dropping his bag onto the floor by the door, shutting the door behind him.
"Hey man" Dev greeted him, glancing up from his laptop to look over at his friend. His eyes narrowed slightly when he caught sight of his expression.
"You good?" As he asked that, Matt just got reminded of when he had gone to the damned art room for some cardboard, that the blonde had said that exact thing when he came in.
"Uh huh." His response was short, which in itself contradicted what he said. There was a bit of silence between the two before Matt caved and decided to tell him what actually happened.
"Some random girls were laughing at me. Probably me, I don't even know bro" His words were huffed as he moved to sit on the couch. His head fell back onto the top of the previously dented cushions.
"Girls? So you don't even know them? What did they look like?"
Matt tried to remember what each of the girls looked like, which wasn't that difficult considering he had been staring at them for at least a few minutes.
"One of them had brown hair and like, light skin. One of them were a little darker and long ass black hair. And then there was a blondie with red in her hair, like highlights 'n shit"
He briefly explained before looking back over at Dev to see if he recognized the trio. You could see the moment the dark haired boy realized who he was talking about.
"Ohhhh, them girls. Eh, they might've been? I doubt it though." He waved his hand a bit, trying to half reassure him that they probably weren't laughing at him and probably something else.
"You know them?" Matt asked, his brows furrowing together as his head lifted up once again.
"One of my friends is dating one of them, they're actually really chill." He shrugged his shoulders a bit. "It's Sam with the black hair, Parker with the brown hair, and..." His words trailed off a bit as he tried to remember her name.
"Uhm..-"
"So you forgot her name? Dalright."
"I didn't forget her name. It's on the tip of my tongue, swear" He protested with a furrow of his brows. There was silence for a little bit, you could hear Devin repeatedly saying "Sam, Parker and.." under his breath. Even changing up the order like that would help him remember faster.
The silence between them seemed to stretch on longer than it needed to. That's when Dev finally broke it.
"Okay, fine, I might've forgot it- but it was something simple anyways" he waved his hand around a bit, like the idea of remembering her name was like a pesky fly disturbing his peace.
Matthew raised a brow at his friend's reaction and actions.
"You're un-fucking-believeable sometimes, y'know that?"
