I’m reblogging this in the January of my senior year at Holy Family. Yes I am procrastinating my homework. How’s it going future Jeannie? By this time, I don’t even know if you will have this blog anymore. Everything will be different and that’s such a weird thought to have, kind of unsettling in a way because I would miss everything thats “normal”. What’s the new normal like? Do you miss 2014 normal? Right now it’s almost Chinese New Year and the Broncos have made it to the Super Bowl!!!! It’s kinda cold outside too. I was just scrolling through the Physical Therapy tag on tumblr. Some psychos put nudes in this tag, even ones that correspond to pt, like what how does one do that. Anyway, I would like to give you a blast from the past. In 17 year old Jeannie’s life she watches Pretty Little Liars, Ravenswood, The Fosters, Awkward, just finished watching the Korean Drama Heirs. She listens to Crooked by G Dragon, Jimmy Eat World - The Middle is her Life’s Soundtrack. The last movie she watched was that John Cusack movie where the iconic boom box was being held up called Say Anything. Her personality type is INFJ. The most frequent slang is #yolo, cray, hoe and many more. I just wanted to say hopefully you’re still pursuing Physical Therapy because I find it so interesting and rewarding-sounding. I am very insightful into the future so that’s probably why I’m writing this. You are so close to getting into Physical Therapy school or Med school or whatever you want to do. You’ll be graduating soon can you believe it. Dang time flies. You better have broken the barriers and stepped out of your comfort zone. Remember, that’s when you’re really living. ONLY THREE MORE YEARS UNTIL YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAREER ALL PLANNED OUT AFTER GRADUATING AND BECOMING A DPT! I hope you were able to get certified as an athletic trainer because 2014 jeannie thought that was really cool. If anything is bringing you down. SNAP OUT OF IT. YOU ARE A WILD ANIMAL. GET BACK ON THAT GRIND. AINT NOBODY CAN STOP YOU. YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON AND YOU KNOW It. AINT NO BODY CAN TAKE THAT AWAY. I’m saying this because I’m you’re biggest fan. Now go out into the world and kick some ass instead of staying home tonight. okay. Go out and get some coffee at some hipster place even if it’s all by yourself. Go do it. And if you’re thinking “ehh 17-year old jeannie don’t know shit” well you’re wrong because she knows everything and she thinks that you need to go spend some me-time (not that kind of me time) me time outside. Have you gone to Larimer Square? You should hit it up. Hopefully with your boyfriend because 17 year old jeannie hopes you have a boyfriend 21 year old jeannie. Oh you’re 21! Dang you are old. Okay well I need to get back to doing Bishop’s AP LIT readings and get my spanish skits ready. you remember those times. It’s challenging but Ima survive. Best of luck to you, future me.

Oh my goud. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 - 12:43pm. Wesley Hall Mail Room.
Past Jeannie… You are so great haha. I was just looking back at all my q’d posts and then I found this gem! I’m not supposed to see this yet, for another 10 months or so. I’m too lazy to do the math. But I’d thought I reply. My goodness. It’s been three years already? What the fuck? (Sorry for cussing). Too be honest past Jeannie, not much has changed… but so much has changed. I’m writing you from work right now. Isn’t that crazy? Back then you didn’t know what it was like to have a job yet. And you wanna know something else? I’m not at Regis anymore and not pursuing PT anymore. It was so cool, the idea of physical therapy. But that’s the thing with you and me. We are dreamers so we get hyped on the romanticized idea of things and sometimes we have to face reality. The reality of it is that you hate broken bones. Are you crazy??? Basically what happened was that you saw a picture of a broken bone and went “NOPE.” Haha but it was cool while it lasted. And then you went premed for a while and that was really fun because there was a great looking guy from Hawaii in a lot of your first-year classes at Regis. HE WAS SO GREAT LOOKING and you kinda were infatuated with him kinda like Ashley I. is infatuated with Jared from Bachelor in Paradise. Yeah, that’s what I watch nowadays Jeannie. And it’s awesome. Let’s see what else am I watching…the olympics just ended. Ryan Lochte made up some elaborate lie about how he was robbed at gunpoint. Which might have been more of a dramatization than a lie. Other than that though I usually don’t have time to watch television. Which is sad, I know. The last movie I watched was Me before You and I cried during the whole entire thing. I listen to music on Spotify now, Pandora is a thing of the past. Cool music taste past Jeannie. My music taste now is more tropical house. Martin Garrix is my current go-to. I’ve recently added Cross My Mind by A R I Z O N A to my saved songs on Spotify.
Rewinding back a bit. It’s all so eye-opening how things haven’t turned out as planned. It just shows how my plans now are subject to change. I’m on my path to a marketing degree now and I’m pretty happy with the change. Just scared that it might not work out how I imagined it. The plans that you talked about, past jeannie, didn’t work out. But that doesn’t mean everything is bad. I’m actually overwhelmed by how great everything is. All the people I’ve met since transferring to DU and joining VSA. How much closer I’ve gotten to all my friends, especially Jennifer who’s abroad right now. And don’t worry Jeannie, you’re not staying in tonight. You’re going to Erin’s 20th birthday party at CPK. She’s a friend I met the first week at Regis. And yes, I have been to Larimer Square! But not with a boyfriend. Just by myself. But the boyfriend will come when he is good and ready and when I am good and ready okay?
Dang future Jeannie’s gonna read this when she’s 21. Well here are some words from the wise future Jeannie. By this time, you best have your Vegas trip all planned and booked. Dude if you don’t have anything planned I’m gonna be very very very disappointed in you. I really hope you already bought your tickets to Martin Garrix playing at the Omnia. Are you really going to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity? I don’t know where you will be at by the time you’re 21 Jeannie but you really need to step it up, I’m begging you. Life is passing you by. 20-year-old you is starting to feel old. So please for the love of God I hope you have lived some more by this point. And if you’re going through anything, know that it will be okay. It’s always okay in the end. Do you have blonde hair yet? I really want some sun kissed blonde hair right now but I feel like it’s going out of style since everyone is going back to their dark hair. Anyway. Look in the mirror this morning and tell yourself you got this and go out there in CRUSH IT. okay bye i have to leave work now.
January 11th, 2018 at 10:55pm - In Bed LOL.
I scrolled past my feed to find posts I had written to myself and q’d so that future me can see them. I also found 14 notes on this post! Thanks to everyone that happens to find these entertaining and interesting. They give me a good laugh and a good incentive to make sure I live up to my goals. 10/10 I recommend y'all do this! 😛 Ready or not here’s this year’s post!
BOY OH BOY YOUNG JEANNIE. You’d be really proud of me. 2017 was the year of my dreams and the best part was I fulfilled a lot of dreams I didn’t even know I had. First and foremost, when you mentioned that you were at the Wesley Mail Room for the last post I honestly couldn’t even remember where that was. Oh how time flies! Your most recent job was at Arrow and you worked your ass off. You were sick all summer yet you pulled yourself to work. You commuted an hour home everyday just so you could gain experience and make some money. You poured your heart and soul into a business case and presented it with an amazing group to more than 200 people and won. You’re probably not believing any of this huh? I don’t blame you. You’ve finished all your college classes and just submitted your grad school app to UW’s MHCID program. This was your dream. You knew it ever since you discovered that such a field even exists. I don’t know how it’s going to play out. But whatever does happen, it will be for the best. Wherever you are future Jeannie, I hope you never stop hustling. Not for the money but for your dreams. I know you can do it. If you fall short somewhere along the way, that’s okay. Fail harder because those who succeed have failed the most and learned the most. Remember that. I believe in you.
You’re not gonna believe me when I tell you this either but you just returned from studying abroad in Barcelona. I know. Who even are you? Well whoever she is, she’s really grown and become an amazing person. I really like her and I hope she never loses her shine. Barcelona changed you in so many ways for the better. I’m so proud of you for taking the leap and doing it. Even though you were afraid of living with a host mom and speaking Spanish, those became your favorite parts about living there. It’s so funny how you mentioned working on honors Spanish as a senior in high school because it felt like absolute hell at the time but really helped in Barcelona. Jeannie you’re gonna freak to hear that you surfed in Portugal and skied in the Swiss Alps. All that money you made, it’s gone but it went to good use so don’t worry bout it. 😉 I’m back home now which feels nice but I miss Barcelona like no other. I miss speaking Spanish to cab drivers, I miss stumbling out onto barceloneta after a fun night out, I miss Wednesday nights at ovella and razz, I miss my Spanish history class, i miss taking the buss and the metro, i miss the Barcelona sunrise! These days, I’m going at my Spanish hard! I’m using hellotalk and watching a bunch of Spanish shows, cortometrajes, and videos in hopes that everything stays. I’m even taking a Spanish class once a week at DU! It’s brought br so much joy! Especially since my teacher is from Barcelona. On the hellotalk app, I talked to someone about God, Nature, and Philosophy and it really brought me back to religion. Anyway, future jeannie, prioritize your travels!! If you haven’t been on a trip in a while, you best make time for it. Have Costa Rica, south of Spain, Thailand, or New Zealand been checked off the list yet? What are you waiting for?? 😛
Another year has passed, and you are still single but I honestly think it was the best that you experienced this time of your life alone. Some of your best experiences were when you traveled alone or on trips where you barely knew people. You figured out who you were in those moments. This past year you really cultivated yourself. So if you do happen to finally let someone in, make sure they’re really special. Make sure they’re good for you. Don’t settle! Can’t wait to hear all about it heheheh.
Young Jeannie, I am going through some stuff. And it’s hard, but I’m so glad you wrote those affirmative words. Reading it makes me feel resilient and that I always have the will in me to fight. I’m strong. I have cried on almost every day of 2018 so far for different reasons. Today, I watched Coco and let me tell you the water works were like raging cascades. Life may get me down but I’ll always remember how blessed I am no matter what. SO DON’T YOU FORGET IT FUTURE JEANNIE. This life has been so good to me and I keep growing, I never want to stop. I mean it would be cool if I could slow down the aging process a lil bit haha.
Future Jean, make sure you’re practicing mindfulness and living in each moment. Make sure the life you’re living is making you happy, not anyone else. Make sure you remind those around you that you love them, especially your fam and friends of course. I hope you’re creating art. Not just on paper but in life. I hope you fail at more things, i hope you embrace the scary. I hope you make more decisions out of love than running away in fear. Keep rockin it, and if you’re not by the next time I hear from you… well you’ll be HEARIN FROM ME AIGHT. 🤙
