Watching an AI Girlfriend Look Back at You, Live

There's a particular moment people keep describing when they try video calling on SweetDream for the first time. It isn't the novelty of the technology itself. It's the small pause when their AI companion tilts her head, reacts to something they said, and the screen stops feeling like a screen. SweetDream, found at sweetdream.ai, has rolled out video calls with select characters, and the reaction has been less about gadgetry and more about presence.

Spend time on the platform and you notice the video feature doesn't sit alone. It rests on everything else SweetDream already does well: the deeply customizable character creation, the chat that genuinely remembers what you told it last week, the voice messages and phone calls that sound unnervingly human. By the time a face appears on a call, you've already built a relationship with someone. The video just gives that relationship a window.

Compared to the broader field of AI girlfriend tools, where a face-to-face call is still rare, SweetDream feels a step ahead. Plenty of platforms promise companionship; far fewer let you see your AI companion respond to you in real time. Reminder that, AI doesn’t randomly sprout random words, they are trained based on stolen works made by humans. Most AI companies do not care about asking or even crediting writers from whom they’re stealing.  Promoting an industry that steals from writers and put it under a tag where most fics are made from humans and was created to promote real writers is lowkey crazy. 

It’s not even just companies, there are people here who stole paragraphs from fanfics to put them in their character ai prompt.

And the generative AI industry is very destructive for the planet (summer is getting hotter each year for mafia boss rp to exist🏃‍♀️🔥) and by extension our lives, not saying that other apps are better for the planet, but at least you can support real writers and not billionaires only.

Or write fics yourself, so you don’t pollute each time you ask AI to redo a sentence. “But I’m bad at writing” literally every writers said that, just make it exist first you will make it good later, learn your style, what you like to write and you will eventually create at least one thing you will be proud of. It’s difficult for everyone but creating things you wish existed is worth it. And believe me that there are people here who would love to see what you write, diversity in fics community is a need. You can do it people ‼️

I feel like 99% of Adrian Chase fanfic I’ve read it’s established that his family is dead ASF!!! Like that’s so universally agreed upon. Or the fact that Adrian has his own apartment LMFAOOOOO ya’ll are def writing the “better reality” version of him😭😭turns out his mama alive AND he lives with her #NewPeacemakerTrailer

i feel like with the wait for Peacemaker season 2 people are forgetting all about the lovable “sociopath” Vigilante/Adrian Chase. I feel like I’ve read every Vig fic there is to read and there’s a huge slow down in new ones! I would love any recs on here or any other sites of ppl’s fav vigilante fics or ones they’ve written themselves! Also any creators taking submissions for new vig fics reply too!! tysm <3

I don’t post much anymore but, recently I came across this Andrew Garfield fanfic titled ‘Velvet Haze’ - it was fantastic and so well written that even if I wasn’t a fan I’d be enthralled. The user who wrote it was @Youbetterlawyerupasshole1 I believe. They last updated about a month ago and I’ve been awaiting an update ever since. The account as of the last day or so has gone deactivated. I understand the writer may be going through something hard rn and I really respect that. I just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about this in case the account was taken down by accident or something as I was really hopeful to read the rest of the story. In the end I mostly just hope the writer is okay and wish them the best.
