Since we first discovered his work early this year Serbian artist Endre Penovác (previously featured here) continues to masterfully create the softest, fluffiest and astonishingly lifelike cats simply using water and ink on paper.

“As the mixture of water and black ink bleeds in every direction it appears to perfectly mimic the cat’s fur. In his newest pieces Penovác introduces elements of color and negative space to add a slightly new dimension.“

Despite knowing these phantom felines are two-dimensional and made of pigment, we can’t help but think that if we look long enough we might catch a glimpse of a twitching tail or blinking eyes. Listen closely and you might even be able to hear a faint purr.
