You know that feeling when you hear the first song of the day that really gets through and it’s super euphoric, like weirdly corny/goofy, but also unexplainably beautiful/perfect? [So I am really here for that – the morning music experience.] This morning I was really taken with this song that tugs at the heartstrings in such a sweet & powerful way, re: familial relationships, and their unfathomable distance, and/but/also their painful intimacy. [While it’s certainly powerful, I’m (personally) less so here for this part – the content of the song, which is almost too saccharine to take seriously – so it’s a bit of a function-over-form- / medium-over-content thing for me with this here song.] And that song is Patches by Clarence Carter.
