This is.... Ridiculously good. Alfajores at M&M Broadway Bakery at Elmhurst Ave & Case. They brought in a woman from Peru to teach them how she makes it, she will be here for two more weeks. Fantastic (at M&M Broadway Bakery)
Just in time for Mother's Day, here's one of my favorite artists, Blanca Narvaez of Tropisec, showing off her dried fruit boxes at last week's Queens Taste. Find her humble, pretty creations at tropisec.com and frequently at Queens craft and food markets.
Tenzing from Gangjong Kitchen showing off his herbs from Tibet. Just another day in Jackson Heights. (at Gangjong Kitchen)

Here we go, this song might have even gotten better with time. Around the time I was 10, Color Me Badd was the height of musicianship (in my mind). And then later in life I realized how sexual they were and how it was inappropriate of me to be singing this stuff because of my age at the time.
This song is mostly safe, and 100 percent fun. The dancing and the colors are sooooo early 90s. It always struck me how ugly the lead singer was compared to the rest of the group. The guy definitely had a disease or something.
I've had this band on my radar for a while, but it wasn't until this song that it really HIT me. I love the progression of this song, it keeps expanding and upticking - keeps you interested throughout, and virtually no downtime. Pretty decent video too. Their dorkiness reminds me a bit of They Might Be Giants, but I try to ignore it. Great stuff.
Bonnie Prince Billy is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. Bonny and the Beatles...
This is a remake of probably his most famous song (thanks to JR Cash). I love his more fun stuff like this. One time he had an entire album of country hillbilly remakes. Some people thought it was a joke, but I loved it.I used to see him every time he played NY, but since I turned 27 or so I am not much for watching things. I guess I'd like to see him again.
This video gets real strange with the eyes, but I guess that's fine because it unsettles you a bit. I like the acting in his conversation scenes. It's all fake like those old videos and stuff.
I woke up with this song in my head this morning. No idea why. I haven't heard it in almost 20 years. The only lyrics I could remember were ".... old motown records..." ... and somehow I found it. This was the time in video when cartoons like this were popular - with Roger Rabbit, Paula Abdul's stuff, Bebe's Kids, and later Cool World pretty much jumped the shark. It wasn't over, but in the cool sense, it kind of was.
My Munch Madness brackets. The way you play is that you are not choosing which is the better food, you are choosing which food you want more. Similar to the actual NCAA, where the better team doesn't always win, it's the one who wants it more.
Who's your winner??
I think I heard this song on the radio last week. If it was the song on the radio or not, I still love it. Great transient feeling to the entire song.
My friend just tipped me to this. Abner Jay. Hits you deep.
I don't know know anything about the Michael Kiwanuka other than he may or may not play for the Giants. I love the sound of this song, I could easily see it being made 40, 50 years ago. The sounds are nearly haunting.
This song is on some commercial lately. And I had it in my head, googled the lyrics, and found the video. Dig it. Great video, the girls are intriguing. The video gets interesting with the story, but the very ending could be better.
Every show should have naked women, simulated masturbation, a guitar being chainsawed in half, and end with a car exploding. My god, wendy o.
oh my god, look at this song. If she is singing Live, that is unbelievable. what a freaking voice. I never heard of this band.
That girl reminds me of the pitcher from Bad News Bears. Love bad ass girls like this.. joan jett, wendy o. williams, etc
Heard this cool song on the radio today. It was like #17 in 1977 or something. you get some great tracks when you get into these top 20 or hundred lists from years past. I really like how he sings at points of this.
Funny and cute how he's telling the girls to pull ON their jeans and get out of their bedroom.
